O who can make a flower?
I'm sure I can't, can you?
O who can make a flower?
No one but God 'tis true!

I couldn't help but think about this song from my childhood--a song I often sang to our children as we marveled over God's creation! You can change "flower" to "rainbow" to "puppy" to "sunshine"...
These flowers were particularly stunning at the Extension Gardens yesterday when we stopped in. The shasta daisies are named "Becky". I've just discovered that this season, and since my name is Rebecca and I was "Becky" for the first 40 years of my life, I am especially thrilled with them. Hydrangeas of ANY color catch my eye any time. Thinking I'd remember, I didn't write down the name of the yellow flower. Of course, this morning it has slipped my mind. Coreopsis, maybe?

How perfect that you quoted a poem for Wordful Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteAnd the flowers are just gorgeous.
blessings and hugs,
marcy
You have the name of the yellow flower correct. I have some in my garden, too. :o)
ReplyDeleteI've never heard that song. I love it!
Thanks, Amy, for confirmation. Marcy, is it Wordful or Wordless? I get so confused. (That's why I don't venture very far into the "Blue Mondays" or "Freaky Fridays". See, I can't even remember what they really are! (It's one of the side effects of arriving at the eve of mid-life.)
ReplyDeleteI think your coreopsis is a "Tickseed" version...I have them and a "Moonbeam" type!
ReplyDeleteBlue Mondays and Freaky Fridays is funny Rebecca...they overwhelm me too sometimes...best to just do what comes naturally...and makes one feel good.
Enjoy your day!
Wanda
Good morning Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteYes, the yellow flower is a Coreopsis. I have them growing in my garden in yellow and red with white. They are beautiful, aren't they?
Thanks for sharing,

I love that jingle! Thanks for the reminder I will teach it to my grand children this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI need Him now more than ever. Today He is the air I breathe! Jesus I will not survive one moment without You. Thank you for the life i have in you. How do people survive without the Savior?
Oh, that's right they don't.Pray for the lost in your life eternity is only a moment away.xoxoxoxo
Be Blessed today. Meg
How very Joyce Kilmer of you, Rebecca! And I'm going to write this on the next 'Wordful Wednesday' (which lately for me might as well be named WordLESS because my brain hurts thinking of rhymes!).
ReplyDelete"Poems are made by fools like me
But only God can make a tree"
I knew Wanda would know your flower!
Beautiful flowers and beautiful sentiments!
