My country, 'tis of thee, sweet and of liberty, of thee I sing;
land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrims' pride,
from every mountain side let freedom ring!
Our fathers' God, to thee, Author of liberty, to thee we sing:
long may our land be bright with freedom's holy light;
protect us by thy might, great God, our King!
Words: Samuel F. Smith 1832
Galatians 5:13-14 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

ReplyDeleteHappy Independence Day! 'Always loved that song! When I was in grade school that was the song we sang after the Pledge of Allegiance and after having sung The Star Spangled Banner. I've always liked God Bless America, but My Country, Tis of Thee has a soft spot in my heart too!
