Tired or Lonely?
Someone recently passed on the thought that there are two kinds of grandparents: tired or lonely. Most of the time, we are lonely - lonely grandparents, at least. All of our children live 3 hours or more away from us, so it is a very special time for us when they come to visit.
We aren't lonely right now. But we ARE tired. A good kind of tired.
I suspect it is the same with ALL friendship and relationships. Without them we are lonely. But relationships and friendships take time and energy. Relationships can leave us tired sometimes. A good kind of tired.

ReplyDeleteI am a Grandma that is in a constant state of TIRED, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
Same goes for all the other relationships in my life!
Great post!
Think it might be called an happy and satisfied tired, good for the heart and soul!
ReplyDeleteblessings and hugs,

Very nice Rebecca,It is a good kind of tired!
ReplyDeleteSo very, very true--tired or lonely!
ReplyDeleteSome of my grandma friends see their grandkids too much--babysitting every day for working daughters. Some too little--because they live so far away. A few have their grandkids close and see them regularly but not to babysit every day. That sounds perfect.
Those of us in the too little catagory are thrilled to be tired now and then. We are happy for whatever we get.
I know your love for your grandchildren and understand the energy it must take to give care along with the enjoyment...around the clock...
ReplyDeleteI have grandchildren close by myself and have babysitted while parents worked...but when 4:00 came and they were picked up...my free time then was appreciated...those days are over...and I dearly miss them...now most are
grown...2 just popped in here today...nothing better than granchildren.
I think I tend to me more tired than lonely and I'm not a grandparent yet. lol
ReplyDeleteI have not been blessed with any grand children, and have sometimes felt like I'm missing something wonderful. However, I do know about relationships, and what you say is so true. Enjoy those kids when you can--wear yourself out--they grow up so soon! Donna

Hi Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to catch up on your blog, and so enjoying seeing your grandchildren's visit. I agree it is a very good tired. We have grandchildren visiting us around the 10th, we are so happy. It has been a year since we last saw them. ... much to long!
I was sorry to read about your uncle 's passing it seems he left a wonderful and lasting testimony.
Also The book on marriage seems like a wonderful read. We have been married and still work on ours everyday. I do like the thought of a perfect marriage!
Hope you and your family have a most blessed 4th of July celebration!
