Mercy

I left off my journaling yesterday
"Pondeirng, wondering....is 'mercy' my word for 2016???"
I woke up this morning and was greeted by Eugene Peterson's tweet.
Apparently so!
Mercy it is.
Interestingly, long ago I took a spiritual gift inventory and was surprised
that it identified mercy as my spiritual gift.
I guess it's time to "stir up" or "fan into flame"
 that gift with vigorous intentionality.
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God,
which is in you through the laying on of my hands,
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
(2 Timothy 1:6-7)

I'll look forward to seeing if YOU  select a word for 2016
and what it is...
Happy New Year.

  1. My secondary gift is mercy....primary is prophecy, which really scared me at first....until a sweet young minister at church asked me a question. "Do you feel the need to share things that God does for you as soon as they happen?" My answer was "yes". He told me that's the gift of prophecy...wanting to share HIS Good News!!! Praise His Name. Love you, sweet Friend, and HOPE for a blessed 2016 for you and your family.

  2. That is a good word Rebecca! I wish you a very happy new year and hope you have had a blessed and beautiful Christmas!
It's funny, I have not really chosen a word before but I have always loved the concept. This year out of the blue I really feel "self-Control" on my heart. It's odd because I haven't been thinking about it or anything, it is just there in my mind, this niggling little idea "Make 2016 a year of self control". I sorely lack this so it may no be a terrible idea!!:)
