Retirement is Beautiful

Today it felt like I imagined retirement might feel!
 My husband golfed all morning.
I spent the time sorting through WAY TOO MUCH jewelry!
It felt good to untangle chains, pair up earrings, and bag up a bunch to give/throw away.
It also felt good to pick up my computer from the shop
(the second time)
and find it working!
Late this afternoon, we headed to Fort Wayne to stroll around the Extension Gardens.
These are the sights we saw!
Afterwards, on the way to Taco Bell, I realized it was Friday evening
and I had not "worried" about selecting the songs for worship, what needed
to be included in the church bulletin, or many of the other details that used to occupy
my mind throughout the week as I worked alongside my pastor-husband.
 Overwhelmed with gratitude I am!
Retirement IS beautiful.

  1. I am so happy you had a lovely day!!! There will be more to come. Things here have been, well tense and stressed, due to family needs, the lastest is another parent serious health issues. Waiting....but finding good moments when we can. Tell your hubby happy woodworking in his retirement!!!!

    1. I'm sorry to hear about your parent's distress. I know a little about that as I continue to try to help and be present for my parents. I believe the relief from the responsibilities I had as I helped my husband has ALREADY kicked in and given me new energy for the care-giving. DO take care of yourself - and I know what you mean about finding good moments when you can. I'll pass on your good words to my hubby. :)

    1. Thanks, Jackie. Hope to fit a few more N.C. trips in now that we have time. (Still don't want to be gone too long from my dad and mother, though.....)

  10. Morning Rebecca,
What beautiful gardens, certainly a lovely place to visit. Happy to hear you are enjoying retirement,
it is good to get a rest........it is amazing how many things we do that until they are gone we didn't
know what a load they were...............cause like you say the Lord gives us grace to get them done.
    You keep enjoying yourself......................
    Blessings, Nellie
