(see prior post)
I slept soundly on a daybed on the porch of my friend's cottage.
Waking before my two friends, I watched as the mist
moved steadily across the water toward sunrise.
and spent some time in silent thought, meditation and prayer.
The remaining hours of my two Lake Days were spent
doing two jigsaw puzzles, playing table games,
walking, eating casual meals, and chatting while sitting comfortably
on lawn chairs overlooking the lake.
Seeing a patch of coneflowers growing alongside my friend's garage,
I boldly asked if I might have a clump. She said "yes".
I returned home rested and refreshed.
My husband helped me plant and water this lovely pink flower.
(I've wanted some of these for a l-o-n-g time...just never followed through.)
It will be my reminder of my July 2014 Porching Days.
What a lovely and refreshing rest you had.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the sweet clump of coneflowers too. Love their color.
Love and hugs ~ FlowerLady
Yes, I did (have a lovely and refreshing rest)...
DeleteSounds like just what you needed. Glad for you, dear friend. <3
ReplyDeleteTo go to a lake house with good friends seems like a touch of heaven to me! How wonderful to take home a living reminder.
ReplyDeleteI just loved the photos you posted here. Your words come from a peaceful heart. What a lovely time it must have been for you, two days at a lakeside cottage, and you sleeping overnight on a porch daybed. Wow, and waking up before daybreak. That really is my kind of thing. I have missed coming over to visit you, and so I am grateful for this opportunity to spend some time with you. Just to touch base, and say hello. FB doesn't quite accomplish what blogs can, so hopefully, with a few days of quiet here in Manila, I can go back to visiting my blog friends again. Oh, and Ithe pink coneflowers are lovely. I hope they adapt well and multiply. Blessings and love, Lidia
ReplyDeleteGlad you "got in" to the blog, Lidia. No. Facebook isn't the same.

ReplyDeleteSo good to have a change from the routine...to fill your tank!!
ReplyDeleteSo, so glad you had a relaxing and refreshing visit at the lake! God is faithful. Enjoy your new flowers.
ReplyDeleteDear Ms. Rebecca.... a few weeks ago I started to mention you in a blog post but I didn't want to offend you in any way. I wanted to say that I felt I had a kindred spirit with you more than probably any other blog friend I've came across. I can only hope to attain the wisdom and Biblical knowledge that you have. So glad you had such a nice relaxing time on the porch. If you get a chance check out my blog header. It's been there a couple of days. :-)
ReplyDeleteBless your heart, Debbie. I am thankful for my heritage, the opportunities I've had to study the Bible, and the hunger/passion God has placed in me to know Him and His Word. However, I am constantly humbled by my failure to walk in the "light" and by the frequent lethargy of my spirit. Actually, my spirit IS willing, but my flesh is SO weak... I WILL check out your blog header :)
DeleteSounds relaxing and refreshing! You'll love the coneflower in your garden.
ReplyDeleteDeanna
I know I'll enjoy it in my garden (IF I can keep it alive through the re-planting process)!
DeleteI feel your refreshment coming off this post! So happy for your porching time. I like that phrase.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a wonderful colour of coneflower... no wonder you asked for a slip. They'll add such beauty to any corner of your garden.
Blessings...
Brenda

Hi Rebecca, sounds like you've had a wonderful restorative retreat, and we need that sometimes don't we, your flowers are so pretty.... are they echanacea's l wonder....if they are, l think they're used to boost the immune system, which is the perfect holiday momento:-))
ReplyDeleteI'm happy you had a bit of a retreat. Your life is so full, I'm sure the time was a blessing. The view was beautiful. I find the water relaxes me. I was amused to find "my" pen on your Bible. ~Pamela
ReplyDeleteI've used this pen for a long, long time. Where do you find yours? I've had a difficult time finding them the past few years. I prefer this one - fine point - to the blue barreled one.
DeleteWhat a beautiful setting to porch in. ♥
ReplyDeleteA new verb - porching! I love it, and I'm so glad you had the good sense to take advantage of this rest with God. In a sense, I've "porched" as well - just thinking about your porching. Peace, friend.
