Sweeter

 I used a photo of our old lilac bush as a facebook header this morning.
I added this description:  Every spring they seem lovelier than the previous one...
 It's true, you know.  They really DO seem lovelier!
If I were to compare THIS year's photo with those from past seasons,
I may observe that other years there were more blooms
producing  a different, fuller effect.
But no matter!  This year's seem lovelier somehow.
It made me think of the goodness of God AND an old gospel song.
Sweeter as the years go by,
Sweeter as the years go by,
Richer, fuller, deeper, Jesus’ love is sweeter,
Sweeter as the years go by.
It's true.

  1. Such beautiful flowers, and I love that old hymn, too. I hope you and your dear sweet mother have a wonderful Mother's Day, Rebecca, and that you, Gary and your parents are feeling stronger each day.

  3. Oh He does grow sweeter every day! I'm sure you know the other sweeter hymn: My heart is sometimes heavy, but He comes with sweet relief,
    He folds me to His bosom when I droop with blighting grief;
    I love the Christ who all my burdens in His body bore,
    Each day He grows still sweeter than He was the day before.

    Your lilacs are beautiful -- I think I smelled them! Emily's fiance just bought her two bushes to plant at their first home. She was delighted!
