Amazing Grace

At this point, I'm beginning to feel like WE'RE the people I used to feel sorry for!  After falling on the 15th of March, I had a hip replacement the following day. Now going into my 5th week of recovery, my husband had a treadmill test, subsequent heart cath, and is scheduled for heart bypass surgery this coming Wednesday.

The peaceful look on his face in the picture taken prior to the catheterization process is NOT a fake one!

Can I use this post to give a "shout out" to God's Amazing Grace?  I've known for most of my life that it is due to His grace that I have experienced forgiveness of sins and received the righteousness of Christ Jesus Himself.  Grace has covered my past and ensures my future.  This I know.  But I'm NOT sure if I've ever experienced the dimension of grace I'm experiencing RIGHT NOW.

That's not to say I'm not emotional now and then.  It IS to say I am understanding in new ways some of what Paul might have meant when he wrote, "The life you see me living is not 'mine,' but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not going to go back on that."  (Galatians 2:20, The Message)  Or as the Holman Bible translates it, "I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

Grace.  So much grace!
And if God's grace could begin to be compared to an ocean of grace,
I've only a drop or two in my thimble so far!
Amazing!

  4. How did this come about? Was he having symptoms? So sudden. I pray for God's grace to only multiply and for an easy surgery with no complications and a recovery so smooth and quick that it amazes all.

  7. I am so glad you two are believers. Imagine those who face these things w/o Jesus. I have been asking Jesus to pray for me. He intercedes for us. My numbers are better but there is still room for improvement. You two are on my prayer list.

  10. Oh my goodness. What a beautiful testimony to God's abiding presence in your dual health challenges, Rebecca! There are things about aging I don't much care for (broken bodies are near the top of the list), but I know we gray-hair-types have a lifetime of experience with God's faithfulness as we press on. I pray He restores your vigor, and delivers your husband safely through the surgery process. Something tells me it'll all serve as new material to honor the Lord.

    Hugs,
    Kathleen

  12. Hi Sweetie,
So sorry to hear about your hubby. Have been there done that, mine hubby got taken right from the
treadmill test to the hospital........shocking, but just as you said God's grace is indeed sufficient and you will experience him in a way you never could have dreamed of.........I could really write a book about our experience it was just riddled with craziness, but God's peace was with us all the way,
and so was his blessings. I say all that to say it was the best thing that ever happened to us.
Because we completely changed our lifestyle, eating exercising and stress level, and it has been
9+ years and my hubby is healthier than ever and we praise God for having him another 9+ years
because he could have been a statistic. God has healed his heart so much that it doesn't even
show on their tests where he ever had a heart attack, which just never happens, so we know it
is the lord...............Your hubbies demeanor looks much like my hubby and he did everything the
Drs. told him to do and God blessed blessed and blessed. In fact, he was his primary care and
cardiologist star patient.............have a feeling that will be your hubbies story too............
Will sure be praying on Wednesday for both of you, and praying for an amazing recovery.
They usually have you meet with a dietician to teach you how to cook for them, I highly
recommend it, but they don't give you as much info as you need really, so if you have
any questions, please let me know if I can help, I have 9+ years of experience now....lol

Take care hon, and will keep you in my prayers,
    Blessings, Nellie
