Thy Kingdom....Thy will

My mother shows Daddy some pictures of them together.
We put a little album in her purse so she can look at them
when she can't be with him.
She pulls it out frequently!
My father has been a faithful caregiver to her
as she lapses further into dementia.
I can't help but think that in addition to concentrating on his own
recovery from open heart surgery,
her future--THEIR future--lies heavily on his mind.
This morning, my sister and I read from Our Daily Bread
for our morning devotions.
It included reading the latter half of Psalm 37
and some VERY appropriate words for us as we commit ourselves again
to the Heavenly Father's will for us.
Our prayer continues to be,
"...Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven..."

  8. what a great idea, the little photo album! I had done that years ago for Deacon and Elylah so they would have pictures of grandma and grandpa to look at when we weren't together. Even though these are hard times for your parents, they are holy times as well. I'm sure your heart, and theirs, are flooded with memories. God bless you all with His sweet presence during these days.

  9. Amen Rebecca. You have the right attitude no matter how hard that may be for you at times. But we must put our faith in the Lord and what he's sets before us. One day at a time. Prayers, Love Di ♥

    1. Thank you, Elizabeth. To know that people I've never met in person are praying is humbling. The prayers of God's faithful people have been "felt" and will continue to result in our peace and comfort. I just KNOW it!

  13. Amen..yes a very hard time as we watch our aging parents. My husband's mom is 98 and she is now having trouble with memory. He will go see her in a few weeks, but it is hard to see his mother no longer remember...we walked through this with his dad. I am so blessed to know that each had a relationship with the Lord and are heaven bound.

    1. So you know....
Yes, my parents are heaven bound. That (and the wonderful heritage they gave us) are what are sustaining us. I know many, MANY others have lived - and ARE living through what we're passing through right now....
