Last Sunday, I wore this dress. I'd worn it several times before.
(I picked it up off the "Give and Take" table in our church's fellowship hall.)
The only thing I did differently was to wear it with the necklace
that I'm wearing in the photo below.
After church, we went out to eat, and two strangers complimented me on the dress!
And when I picked up my friend to drive to our no-longer-Red Hats-lunch,
she said, "Oh, I forgot to tell you how much I liked the dress you were wearing Sunday!"
THEN, yesterday a friend stopped by with these two dresses (above and below).
They'd been given to her and had been hanging in her closet.
She said she wanted me to have them.
I said, "If they fit, I'd be thrilled to wear them."
They fit.
And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today
and
thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you.
Why do
you have so little faith?

Lovely dresses. I wear skirts and tops, but would like to find some nice dresses to wear too. I need to start checking them out at the thrift stores.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great the way God works out everything in our lives. We never know what He's going to do from one day to the next.
Have a wonderful weekend ~ FlowerLady
I too wear skirts and tops most of the time. I love to wear dresses - especially to church, etc. These 3 are such COMFORTABLE ones. I'm pleased to have them.
DeleteYes, we NEVER know how our Father is gong to work everything out, but He does!
His time. His way. For His glory!
That is just awesome!! Enjoy them and wear them with style, which I know you will.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post, I got up this morning a little overwhelmed with some very urgent needs and you reminded me of the truth. Now I will walk in faith as I see His plans unfold.
God does take care of us...in so many special ways. The dresses are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love how God cares about every detail of our lives...even when it comes to providing dresses that fit!
ReplyDeleteThese are really lovely, Rebecca. These days, I wish anything would "fit" right. I'd love to go thrifting with you!
ReplyDeleteThe dresses are beautiful - they are definitely "you." And with a touch of class in the accessories you choose to go with them, I am sure heads will turn to admire you. I have not been around blogland much these past months, but it always feels good to be in touch with you.

As you probably know, admiration is not my goal. In fact, I was SO surprised by the compliments that I thought it unusual & it struck me as the Lord blessing me through total strangers. I couldn't figure it out - it was/IS so rare...
DeleteThese are all beautiful dresses. I have the hardest time finding dresses that I really like once I try them on. I think it may be the fact that I am only 5'3'' and dresses look so much better on taller women. Anyway, enjoy the Lord's blessing of these lovely dresses.
ReplyDeleteI AM enjoying the Lord's blessing in such a tangible way. The dresses are really quite simple and definitely exactly what I would have picked out myself.
DeleteI can see that this particular style might not be easy to wear for someone as petite as you are, Sandy :) Now you've got me wondering what lines would be comfortable if I were a couple of inches shorter......
Love the quote at the end! How true! I love to get new dresses and have gotten my share lately. I found several of the same style on clearance--all different fabrics. They fit nicely and were so inexpensive that I bought one of each! A nice, modest dress is such a rare find anymore that I like to snatch them when I see them! Congratulations on your finds!
ReplyDeleteRebecca....it is hard to find an attractive dress these days (just my opinion.). The ones I see in the stores are just not cute! These are pretty, and I have no doubt that you wear them with class and style.
ReplyDeleteIt is always lovely to receive compliments, and I have learned to graciously accept them. I used to not be able to, but I recognize that the one giving it/them gets satisfaction also in being able to share a smile from their heart. I've learned to smile and accept the compliment as a gift.
Sending you hug and a wish for a lovely week
Love,
Jackie
Jackie, I have finally learned to receive compliments (graciously, I hope). You are so right about blessing the person who GIVES them....
DeleteI haven't shopped in a "real" store for a dress in ages. I honestly can't remember the last time. In the case of these 3, I'm sure glad someone ELSE did!
Just found your blog. I like it. Especially your first poem on the Poems page. That has been one of my favorite songs since I was a child. I sing it often.
