Lessons (Re)Learned

LESSONS (RE)LEARNED
  •  Don't just SAY "I'll pray about it."
  • Pray.
  • God answers prayer.
  • Notes mean SO much.  (This one is now taped in my journal.)
  • Write more notes.
  • God is faithful.
In the beautiful context of how to live life in Christian community,
the Apostle Paul wrote:
So let's not get tired of doing what is good.
At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up.
Galatians 6:9
One of the outcomes of this kind of community is BLESSING!

  1. It's awesome when we do learn that our prayers have been answered! But even if we don't ever find out, we need to keep on being open to engaging in prayer. An example: Years ago I was preparing to attend a wedding of a couple, the bride being the daughter of someone I worked for, so wouldn't really be involved much in their future lives. However, the morning of the wedding I felt an overwhelming urgency to pray for this couple~the kind of prayer that lasted a while and brought words and tears from somewhere deep within my soul. To this day I have no idea what their lives have been like and I've often wondered "why me?" God alone knows...but I still can feel the blessing of that unusual kind of a call to prayer. Many times praying benefits the pray-er as much as the one being prayed for.

    1. So true, Jacquelyn. Receiving this note was definitely the icing on the cake (for several reasons I can't go into). I DID think about what Jesus might have been feeling when the one leper who was healed came back to thank Him...

  2. Thanks for the reminder! I was just going to write a note to send to a friend when I got distracted at the computer! I needed the little reminder to get back on track!

  3. Yes, notes are very meaningful and we can save them, to be blessed by them again and again. I have a stash of notes and cards ready to send. I read that prayer changes the person who prays, which I agree with.

  4. Don't just say "I'll pray," pray! ;) That's a big one for me!
I hear about a need and plan to pray about it, but then as I move on with my day I forget. I've been trying to stop and take a moment to pray immediately after knowing that I should.

  5. I have a dear friend who, when someone asks her to remember them in prayer, she just stops immediately and prays for/with the person on the spot. One way not to "forget" and also to bless the one in need right away...

    1. This I usually do, too...I just want to pray more. Not just once and then forget it--but pray and keep on praying with/for until answer comes.

  6. I agree with you .....I use to say I will pray then delay it and end up forgetting. The Lord spoke to me about stopping and praying on the spot or with the person. On occasion I will say to the person asking the prayer request...lets pray right now.Sometimes i will pray for someone ...I pray...and then weeks later the Lord puts them back on my heart to pray. Your post speaks volumes to me today. I have a friend I need to pray WITH the next time I visit her.

  7. I do better when I write the request down. I need to get back to writing more notes, too. The older I get the less time I have--everything takes me longer!

  8. I've been relearning prayer - recalling God's faithfulness to me over the years and his answers to prayer. Why not pray all the time? And you're right, notes to mean so very much! Have a wonderful time with your grandkids.
