Two are Better than One

Two are better than one, because they have a good [more satisfying] reward for their labor;
   For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow.
 But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
It is SO true. Two ARE better than one.

We've spent a lot of time in our yard the past few days.  One afternoon, I noticed several "pairs" here and there and was reminded of the truth of these verses.  I thank my Heavenly Father for my husband, the other half of a life-long pair...and also those who" pick me up when I fall"--whose encouragement and friendship have blessed me over and over and over again.

As I look at the pairs in my photos, I'm reminded that the other half of a pair need not be a duplicate of its partner.  Rather, there is at least one common feature the two share, and they exist in close enough proximity to each other to "interact" or simply and quietly share space with each other.

Today I'm especially aware that there will be people who cross my path today who feel "alone" and may in fact have  no human presence to help when they fall down.  I pray that God will help me to interact unselfishly, simply and quietly with those whose space I share.

  4. First, every time I read your blog header it makes me smile.

    I used to collect bird houses so these certainly got my attention. It's that time of year, isn't it? Everywhere birds are chirping & preparing to raise their young. You're definitely ready!

  5. You are tender to realize some who cross your path have no one to catch them; I will look for those people too.

  6. It such a pleasure to meet you this morning. I have been reading through some of your post and enjoying myself immensely.
    God must of sent me to you this morning because being alone at this time in my life I was feeling rather low yesterday not having my partner with me. Even though we have been divorced a while now I still miss our times together so yes Two Are Better Than One and most people don't really appreciate this until it's too late.
    Sorry did not mean to write a chapter. Looking forward to being your newest friend and follower.
    I am off now to check out the author you wrote about in another post. I am always in need of a good book.
