More and More

More....
"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ."   (Philippians 1:9-10)
...and more
Seeing the additional irises opened this morning brought the words "more and more" to my mind.  Until Jesus comes again (or I die), there will always be more in store for me.  Though outwardly I may appear to be aging and diminishing, the possibilities and promises for me remain!  Eliza Hewitt wrote the words to an old gospel song that is the prayer of my heart inspired by the flowering of the irises.....

More about Jesus would I know,
More of His grace to others show;
More of His saving fullness see,
More of His love Who died for me.

More, more about Jesus,
More, more about Jesus;
More of His saving fullness see,
More of His love Who died for me.

(By the way, do you see how many flowers there are yet to unfold on the iris plant?)

    1. They are pretty, aren't they, Sandy? I think these came from N. Carolina - my brother sent some roots/bulbs - whatever - back with me a couple of years ago. The others he sent haven't opened yet. I think they are more yellow & brown. Not my favorites. These here are my second favorites. The deep lavender ones I have are my current favorites. They bloomed first. A neighbor has white ones blooming right next to our property. They are gorgeous, too.....

      And, yes. They song - all its verses are so inspiring...."Spirit of God, my teacher be Showing the things of God to me...Hearing His voice in every line Making each faithful saying mine" etc.

Around here; people call them "flags" and I can see why... they stand so tall and wave abit in the breeze on their long sturdy stems. MORE... and MORE...
