Me, Too

While in California, a few of our meetings were held in an old, grand church on Colorado Blvd.
I regret not getting pictures of its beautiful stained glass windows.
I do NOT regret having taken photos of THESE pictures
hanging on a HUGE bulletin board in a hallway leading to our meeting room.
I found them incredibly fascinating.
This was a children's/youth wing of the church.
I like the way they are done primarily in shades of blue and how the artistic styles vary.
"He (Jesus) climbed a mountain and invited those he wanted with him.
They climbed together.  He settled on twelve, and designated the apostles.
The plan was that they would be with him, and he would send them out
to proclaim the Word and given them authority to banish demons.
These are the Twelve."
(Mark 3:14-15, The Message)
"Then he told them what they could expect for themselves:
'Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat—I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how.'".
(Luke 9:23, The Message)

He has called US, too.  ME, too...
to be with him.  To climb together...

    1. I liked Peter, too...But there was just something very primitive and intriguing to me about the "collection".

  2. What part of California were you in? I just flew back from there yesterday. One of my books is on the disciples and I loved researching it.

    1. What a beautiful (and clean) town! The Methodist church was on Colorado & we enjoyed morning coffee at Starbucks on the corner of Colorado & Los Robles. We ate a few meals at Fuller Seminary refractory, etc.

  6. Hi Rebecca!
Thank you for your kind visit to my recent post... It always surprises me how fast time goes by... It had been so long that I posted or even spent quiet time visiting friends here in our blogging neighborhood :-)
I love this post, Rebecca, because it reminds me of something I talked about just this week.
The new "common core" national standards in education call for teachers to begin to teach children how to closely read text. Many of the passages are numbered to identify the specific sentence and paragraphs referred to in discussion. How ironic is it that anyone who has participated in Bible study or who simply spends time in devotion ... already knows how to read closely.
How ironic is it that Colonial days, the "primer reader" WAS The Bible !
The drawings here are a beautiful reminder that the souls of these children know their Creator and know His love for them ... They know He had an amazing plan for His Son's time with His apostles and for us as well!
Thank you for sharing this with us. It's always a joy to know that God's Word is shared ~ especially with children!
    Blessings always,
    Maria
