It's a New Year!

This is a picture of my father delivering his annual state-of-the-heart address to children, grandchildren and great-grand-children gathered for a couple of days of fellowship, food, and festivities last weekend.  Many, many memories are created; songs are sung; words of encouragement exchanged.

And almost before I said good-bye to 2012, here it is!  A New Year.  My focus all morning was spent trying to set up and initiate a new "smart phone" -- a first for me.  And CLEARLY, I'm not as smart as my phone!

I've had little time to think of any New Year's resolutions, but two have been strong in my mind.  First, I will write a Scripture song every week for a total of 52 in 2013.  I already have a Moleskine music book waiting for notations, so no more equipment is necessary.  Second, I will keep my weight below 140#.  I worked hard in 2012 to lose 45 pounds and do not want to have to go through that again!  All the other things I "resolve" are on-going.  Necessary, but not new.

As for my "word" for the year, I have decided to stay with the one from last year.  Graciousness.  I am dissatisfied with my progress in that department and want to improve.  OH!  How I want to improve!

I shall look forward to hearing how YOU have prepared for 2013 and what desires God has placed in your heart.

Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart's desires.  Psalm 37:4

  2. Hi Rebecca,
Graciousness is indeed a good word for the year, and one that most could do with taking to heart. Unfortunately, as I have already found on my blog, it is not on everyones list of 'thing to be'. I enjoy your blog, and rarely comment, but look forward to more in 2013. As for losing weight...ugh...pain and misery awaits me as well. Take care to all of yours.

  6. Happy New Year Rebecca! I hope it will be full of happiness for you. Your resolutions sound great to me and the fact that you've lost 45 pounds last year is amazing - I know how hard it is and how hard it can be to keep the weight off. I think Graciousness is a beautiful word and sentiment for the year, do you mind if I "borrow" it? ;-) All the very best for this new year xo

  8. I hope you share your songs with us. I love Scripture songs. I've only lost 22 lbs so am hoping to lose more instead of maintain. And gracious is a word I would already use to describe you.

  9. I love the idea of writing a Scripture song each week! I'm going to work on memorizing more Scripture and on intentional readings per Alicia Chole. I'm so excited to take this adventure with her. I'll keep you posted.

Love seeing your dad give his annual talk. Even more so, I would love to hear it!
