My pastor-husband visited her yesterday. She's recovering from surgery.
When he came home, he told me she shared that she'd been craving some strange things!
He remembered three items she mentioned,
so this morning I went on a scavenger hunt to find them.
I'll put them in a basket and take them along when I visit her tomorrow.
(She's NOT pregnant, by the way!)
Have you had any strange food cravings lately?
That word - cravings - reminded me of a verse in the Bible.
THIS one:
Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk
so that you will
grow into a full experience of salvation.
Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness.
I Peter 2:2-3
There's an urgency in Peter's words here, isn't there?
...you MUST...
There's a "full experience" of salvation yet to be had for us!
I don't want to be satisfied with just a taste.
How about you?
Those are strange foods to be craving together, at least. Unfortunately, I crave ice cream in summer and have been enjoying some. I need to make my own so I can use healthier ingredients. There are so many good recipes for it on Pinterest.
ReplyDeleteAs far as what Peter said here I so love it! We have to be hungry for God and crave more of Him in our lives. Whenever I start to slip in my Bible study and alone time with Him I am always reminded of His warning that those who are lukewarm will be spewed from His mouth! Yikes! Keep me set ablaze for You, Lord!
I do get cravings from time to time but not lately. When I don't feel good, I crave McDoubles from McDonalds. It's my comfort food. I think it's been too hot for me to have cravings. The only thing I crave lately is naps!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your visit will be well received Rebecca. A sweet idea!
Love Di ♥
How sweet to find "those things" she's craving. Mmmmmm

Great lesson, Rebecca! I love how you tie life's little happenings into eternal truth!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet person you are to find the foods she was craving...she will be blessed tomorrow with your visit. I have been craving blueberry bagels...
ReplyDeleteWell, Billy just made me s'mores per my request. Sure filled my craving for chocolate!
ReplyDeleteYum! (I made no-bake chocolate drop cookies yesterday for Gary to take to the church board meeting. I licked the pan. Sure filled MY craving for chocolate, too!)
DeleteYou have such a kind and thoughtful heart Rebecca!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful way to shelter your friend. I have people ask me how I know how to shelter someone. My answer is, "just listen." How sweet that your husband tucked those desires aware. I made Mounds Bar Brownies for my husband to take to work. Luckily he wanted them on a plate so I was able to steal a corner piece. Smelling them baking made me crave them!
