Four days ago I heard a farm expert on the radio
say that if we didn't get rain within four days,
the crops would be lost.
Guess what?  This is Day Four.
I don't remember ever being this emotional about rain.
Thanksgiving is just spilling all over inside of me--
running over like the rain falling out of the gutters
that can't keep up with its volume.

 Never Be Discouraged
There is really nothing we need to know
or even try to understand
if we refuse to be discouraged
and trust God's guiding hand.
So take heart and meet each minute
with faith in God's great love
aware that every day of life
is controlled by God above.
And never dread tomorrow
or what the future brings.
Just pray for strength and courage
and trust God in all things.
And never grow discouraged
be patient and just wait.
For "God never comes too early
and He never comes too late.

  1. Hi Rebecca,
boy, we know the last few lines to be oh so true,
sometimes we get tested right down to the wire,
but God is always faithful..........He is so worthy of our trust!

Wow, I am sure there were some farmers dancing and singing in the rain.......lol What a great gift rain is, that we so often take for granted.

Thanks for your sweet comments on my Father's Day table, I am sure your hubby was very well pleased with yours as well. I think I probably get a bigger charge out of all the fru fru than he does, but it makes me at least feel like I am
doing something special for him. lol

Hope you are doing well hon, I think I hear you singing in the rain, just a singing in the rain....
    Blessings, Nellie

  2. This account of the vital rain of refreshment makes me think of the refreshing that comes from repentance.

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. (Acts 3:19,20)

Thanking the Lord for refreshing, natural and spiritual...

  3. Hmm, I tried to comment but it didn't seem to work. I'll try again and hope I haven't just repeated myself.:) Just wanted to say thank God for the rain and wish you a blessed weekend Rebecca!:)

  4. I'm so thankful yall got rain Rebecca!
We've been praying for rain here too. It's been so hot, and dry... it's getting to me. We may have to sell our cows if things don't change soon.
    This post encourages me.
    Keep trusting....
    Love Lea

    1. Lea, I'll trust and pray WITH you. I SO hope you don't have to sell your cows! Will you let me know how it comes out?

  5. I rejoice with you for this welcome rainfall! I have so often heard it said that God many times waits until the last minute to answer prayer to cause us to trust Him and receive strength at the same time. I know that has been true in mine and my family's lives time after time. This really encourages me and I have always loved Helen's poetry, this one being a favorite.

  6. Well we're still waiting!! And praying. The weather folks said they don't know when we'll have rain. The crops aren't hardly growing. I watered again last night and I'm really afraid to see my water bill!!

I am so glad that you got some rain Rebecca. I understand how you feel about it. I think if we had some rain right now, we'd all feel relief!!

    Love Di ♥

  7. thanks for sharing this...love your blog sister

  8. We got a little rain. I think it was about .3 but that is better than nothing. It has been good for haying but we are still praying for rain. Our crops are really spread out over a 20 mile radius so some are better than others. God is good and he will provide.

  9. We serve an "on time" God. So glad you got the much needed rain...just in time!!!

  10. Most of the state of Texas had terrible drought conditions for the past two years. Burn bans AND fires. Dead grass, random trees died. We're back on the mend now. Clouds without rain can surely be disappointing!

  11. We missed the rain--or maybe it was the rain that missed us. Our farmers need rain, too, although I'm surprised at the way the corn is growing without it. Brown grass everywhere though.
