Hearts Unfold Like Flowers

Sunshine on plants as I walked in the yard this morning brought these words to mind...
 "Joyful, joyful, we adore thee,
God of glory, lord of love.
Hearts unfold like flowers before thee
Opening to the sun above.

Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;
Drive the dark of doubt away.
Giver of immortal gladness,
Fill us with the light of day."
Oh for an "unfolding heart"!
Spontaneous.
Beautiful.
Unselfconscious.
Drawn by & turned to His glorious light...
This morning and forever.
A heart in every thought renewed
And full of love divine,
Perfect and right and pure and good,
A copy, Lord, of Thine.
(from O For a Heart to Praise My God)

  2. Like you, I am a lover of old hymns. I am going to be singing this tune in my head today I think, pondering hearts unfolding like flowers before Him. Thank you, Rebecca!

  3. Rebecca,
What a lovely post, so full of sunshine... I didn't even remember those lines were in that hymn, Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, opening to the sun above...

This is one of my favorite hymns - so majestic, so glorious. I feel so blessed to be remembering it this morning!

  4. Lovely Hymn, and I like the keeping life sane, simple and sacred message too! *Winks* Thanks for dropping by for a visit... so the POST wore you out huh? *LOL, well now I don't feel so bad being so worn out.* Well, we THOUGHT we had it arranged that they both would be gone at the same time... but alas, one of the Aunties called from Texas today to tell us that Princess T's trip will be delayed... we're hoping not indefinitely?!? Maybe they read the Post too??!!???!??? *LOL* Blessings from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian
