"Gratitude turns what we have into enough."
(Unknown)
enough buttons...
enough Easter eggs...
enough everyday dishes...
enough pearl-like necklaces...
enough gardening books...
Just a glance around my house shows
I have enough of just about EVERYthing!
TOO much, if I'm honest...
With food to eat and clothes to wear, content we are in everything.
(I Timothy 6:8)

We never have all that we want, but we always have more than we need. Take care.
ReplyDeleteA good quote full of wisdom, Rebecca. A journey I'm on as well.

"More than enough" ...I agree! It's easy to confuse "want" and "need" in our stuff-driven culture. I'm so thankful for His abundant provision for our needs and many of our wants.
ReplyDeleteI can truly relate to your button box! I had to weed through a lot of things when I moved to our apartment and I found I had way more things than I needed. Unfortunately the next time I move I will probably have to weed through things again. Good post...:)
ReplyDeleteMe, too (when I move again.....)! Almost 8 years ago when we moved here, I promised myself never to accumulate like I had again! Well.........
DeleteWonderful post, Rebecca! I so agree with Glenda, where do we draw the line between needs and wants? I want to be a minimalist, of sorts and I say this after watching the Hoarder program! OH MY!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you compare the things I get rid of to the things I keep,,,,,I don't get rid of so much after all.
ReplyDeleteMe too.. I have over-the-top- more-than-enough of just about everything too! Thank you for that lovely reminder to keep look at it that way.
ReplyDeleteBloggerly hugs.......
I'm trying to learn to live with enough instead of too much. Sometimes too much is just too much to take care of!
ReplyDeleteIndeed! (That last sentence!)
DeleteHi Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteI figure that Amber will is back in the US by now. It really was such a delight meeting her... for two reasons - she was such a lovely person, and she is your daughter, a dear blog friend.
Hope you like the little tokens of friendship I gave you through her.
This post is so right on... I too have more than enough of everything, at this age, I am struggling with living a simple, uncluttered lifestyle. The time has really come to live with less.

Yes, Lidia. She arrived home yesterday afternoon. I know I'll cherish the "little tokens of friendship". For two reasons - you are such a lovely person AND you are a dear blog friend. :)
DeleteI don't know Rebecca, those buttons are prize possessions in this area. I collect them and they are scarce at the thrift stores when they used to be plentiful. Also they have raised the prices on them as well. I think there are a lot of collectors out there. Plus we don't have a decent store to buy them in anymore.
ReplyDeleteBut yes, we are blessed as well. Too much stuff I think really!!
Love Di ♥
You are so right Rebecca, we all have way more than enough since we live
ReplyDeletein the good ole USA, WE JUST NEED TO REMEMBER IT AND GIVE THANKS FOR IT!!
Blessings for a lovely Friday,
Nellie
After going shopping with my mother yesterday, we both decided on the great closet purge! Enough, indeed.

Yes, you're so right, we all have enough of everyTHING. We truly do not need anyTHING. That's why my husband took me out of town through a beautiful park and to a good hotel on a beautiful lake for my birthday. Time with my sweetie and a chance to enjoy God's creation is a gift in itself.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
Enjoying God's creation trumps ANY artificial treasures, doesn't it?
DeleteI can surely identify with this creative post! Wonderful!
