Double Duh!

When I was a little girl, I got a book named: The Lady That Put Salt In Her Coffee. The story characters (went) through all kinds of ways to make the salty coffee taste good....then finally somebody said just pour it out and get a new cup......

Thanks, Mrs. Mobunny (who commented on my "Duh" post from a couple of days ago).

I looked it up and found out this book was first published in a children's periodical in 1867.  It was the first story in what became known as The Peterkin Papers.   I also saw that it can be read online...  If anyone happens to own a copy and wants to part with it, I'd love to have it.  (Duh!  Fat chance, now that I've drawn attention to it!)

What book(s) do you remember from your childhood?
Do you still have a copy?

LATE BREAKING NEWS...
Brenda and Mrs. Mobunny have both offered to send me a copy!
Thanks to both of you.
I'll take them, if you're serious.

  4. Oh dear, Rebecca, you will probably be inundated with copies of the book . . . well maybe you can give them away. I just sent you the book that you mentioned. You should receive it next week sometime. I was going to surprise you but thought I had better mention it before you get so many copies that you have to open your own used book store.

I am trying to clean out and find good homes for a lot of stuff. It is a joy when someone wants and has a place for something that I loved but can no longer use. My hubby gets impatient at how long it is taking me to discard but I have made tons of progress. But your post is more about tossing broken, very used, no longer good to share items. That is tough sometimes, too, until we see things from someone else's point of view. Blessings, friend.

  5. Mr. Popper's Penguins. (I think there's a movie out, or coming out on it), but can it be as thrilling as the book version... we'll have to see!

Anne of Green Gables when I was in Grade 4. I've been enthralled ever since!

  6. "365 Bedtime Stories"-- I still have it. A story for each day about the children who lived on 'What-A-Jolly-Street.' Second favorite was "Doctor Doolittle", which has not been done justice by recent films. Then there were the 'horse' books; "Misty of Chincoteague", and "Stormy"...oh, and how about "Little Women"?
