This, That, and the Other Thing

“Just 'cause you got the monkey off your back
doesn't mean the circus has left town.”
(I can't remember where I read this...but I LIKE it!  It kind of helps explain the way the old sin nature rears its ugly head from time to time...)

"...There's no routine on weekends like this, just a list of things to be done and one by one they're mentally crossed off. There's no rush to get through it, no guilt if anything goes undone. My aim is to get through my work but to enjoy it too, even the seemingly dull bits."  (From Down To Earth, a gentle and encouraging blog to live life with simplicity and intentionality.)

♫ TRUST HIS HEART♫
All things work for our good,
though sometimes we can't see how they could
Struggles that break our hearts in two
sometimes blinds us to the truth.
Our Father knows what's best for us;
His ways are not our own.
So when your pathway grows dim, and you just can't see Him--
Remember you're never alone!

He sees the master plan,
And He holds our future in His hands.
So don't live as those who have no hope!
All our hope is found in Him.
We see the present clearly,
But He sees the first and the last--
And like a tapestry
He's weaving you and me to someday be just like Him
(Refrain)
God is too wise to be mistaken.
God is too good to be unkind.
So when you don't understand;
When you don't see His plan;
When you can't trace His hand
Trust His heart.

For some reason, I just need the truth of this song to play itself over and over
in my heart and mind today...Hope it strengthens YOU, too.

  2. Great quote!! I love it. That could be applied to our weight loss efforts - so often we lose weight and then gain it back. I feel more peaceful just watching your blog load up. You set a good example for me. Today I decided not to use the word "hate" so much. Thank you for inspiring me to be better than I am.

  3. This is great..and yes I need to sing that song over and over again. This past weekend God spoke that message to me through so many different venues...even through a movie I wouldn't have watched His voice came through with the truth that He does all things because He loves me.

    I need to print this off and tape to my bathroom mirror.

  5. Well I'm not smoking but I still want to. So I guess that would mean that the circus is still in town!!
    I don't think that I've ever heard that hymn Rebecca. It's a good one. Love Di ♥

  8. Hi Again,
    Love that quote "just cause you got the monkey off your back, doesn't mean the circus has left town"
    Oh, how true that is, and what a funny quote!!
    Cracks me up!! But so true, so many times just because we realize something is sin doesn't mean it just goes away, especially if you have been entrenched in it. It is like one of my old Pastors used to say, well, we have cleaned the bats out of the attic, but their is still some bat poop left behind!! lol

    I love that song too, especially those last 4
    lines, when you don't understand, when you don't see his plan, when you can't trace his hand, trust his heart. Great words to live by.

    Love and Blessings, Nellie
