"whether others do or not, I will"

"Resolved: that all men should live for the glory of God.
Resolved second: that whether others do or not, I will."  Jonathan Edwards

Yolanda (Higher Grounds) responded via email to a comment I left on her blog this morning.
At the bottom of her message was the Jonathan Edwards quote.
I will carry it in my heart today.
Already my day has changed directions.
A 10:00 appointment was canceled.
A noon one remains.
I'm dressed and ready to go.
How will I use these extra hours?
I will live them for the glory of God...
in joy, simplicity, and excellence.
I will find tasks for my hands to do
and accomplish them
in an attitude of prayer and thanksgiving.

  2. Awesome quote...He changes our direction...but you are ready...He says for us to be ready, and physically you were and now to see what else He has for you!

  3. It is a very good resolve - to live moment by moment for the glory of the king alone... for him and no one else.

I'm glad I dropped by here today. This timely reminder encouraged my heart.

Scrolled down to read some of the past posts I had missed. Loved the songs. The spring shower "felt" delightful, and the spring picture of the leafless tree is so beautiful...waiting for it to burst into life.

Loved your guest room where it's CHristmas all year round.

  4. I am sending this quote to a young ladies club that I host. After some drama yesterday I know that this will speak to them. Definitely to those who held to Truth. And prayerfully it will prick the hearts of those who..ahem..did not.

    Blessings, Debbie

  5. I like the Andrew Murray quote you have up, too. That pretty much covers it, I think.

His little book on prayer has been precious to me ("With Christ in the School of Prayer"). Very simple and plain spoken, but profound.

    Thanks, Rebecca.

  6. This quote will go in my journal. Finding tasks for my hand to do...it's easier to sit down and read. Today I will look for tasks...and do them!
