Mostly I'm Okay With It

Yesterday afternoon we reluctantly headed for Barnes and Noble...reluctantly, because our favorite local bookstore, Borders, officially closed its coffee shop while we were on vacation.  I was happy to find some new issues of favorite magazines AND a few new-to-me ones as well!  The tables are smaller at B&N. There was hardly room for all the magazines I'd gathered, but I settled in to enjoy some "eye candy".
I found this simple & clever way to hold a recipe.
I think I'll look for some bottles and try it this week!
It would make a sweet gift, too, wouldn't it?
At the back of the spring issue of Where Women Create,
this picture caught my eye. It reads,
"She wanders around wondering about this, that and then the other thing
finding she knows nothing at all.
And mostly she is okay with it."

We may not be making so many trips to the bookstore until gas prices fall a bit.  We were well on the way to town before we saw the current price is $3.85/gallon!  At the very least, we will be combining our trips into town.
Have YOU begun to incorporate some gas-saving practices in your life yet?

As I sit here with my cup of coffee, rain is pounding on our window.  It is our first official "April Shower"...complete with lightening and thunder.
Monday morning.  I wandering and wondering and realize
the older I get, the less I know!
Mostly I'm okay with it because I'm...

  1. Great post. Yes, mostly I am okay with it, too but sometimes I have wait a bit until I adjust my attitude. We are sad that our Barnes and Noble store closed and also our Blockbuster store. I hope that Borders can hang on . . . I know that it is struggling because of Amazon but sometimes it is just fun to browse. I have been thinking twice before taking the car anywhere as well. I don't like it. Gas was $3.99 here yesterday. BTW Your life is perfectly exciting--daily walking with God including vacations, family, lots of love and creativity and contentment. We are both so very very blessed.

  2. Good morning Rebecca, I love those treks to the bookstore, I get a handful of magazines and sit and oggle. I like this idea of the fork holding the recipe card. I have many cards with food stains on them because of putting them on the counter. lol
Yes, we are combining trips,.. gas prices just seems to have no end!
Rainy days are perfect for siting and reading, our rain will be here tomorrow. Enjoy your day.
    Hugs,

  3. I love the "wandering and wondering" quote. . . I can so identify with that place in life! And the words of the old hymn definitely assure that it's OK - and definitely speak to me. And another old hymn prays "oh for grace to trust Him more."

  4. Hi Rebecca,
Thanks for coming by hon, always love hearing from you...you always leave me feeling encouraged!
Am so glad you got to church too, to hear that great testimony, don't you just love that!! I sooo love hearing how God is working in people's lives, it just blesses our lives in return.

Well, hubby had his interview it didn't really last too long, he was done in 45 minutes, they did talk a lil about hrs. and overtime, and about benefits (no details tho), and hubby said that when he found out he was a Sr. level engineer he seemed to stop asking questions, so
don't know if they thought he was overqualified or something, course, we are praying for the Lord to open and close doors to lead us where we need to be, so that could be it, but you can't always read people, and of course, they are looking at other people as well. He will end up exactly where the Lord wants him is how we figure it!!
Thank you so much for your prayers for us, we sure know that is what has been keeping us going all these months. Oh.....the blessing of the prayers of HIS saints (our friends)!! There is nothing else like it.

Thanks for being excited with me about the dress for the wedding, that is so sweet!! It is always wonderful to have someone be happy for you when good things happen.
    Your a blessings my friend,
    Love ya, Nellie

  5. You know what I forgot to say "Mostly I am okay with it too!! Cause I am trusting the same person as you!!
It is strange how the farther we go in this life,
the less we feel like we know for sure, crazy, huh! but I am okay with it too!! lol
    Blessings girly,

  6. Looks like we have the same taste in
magazines. I have a hard time coming
away from any bookstore without at least
one magazine to bring home and enjoy.
We have an easy time staying home and
not using gas due to our care of our
    autistic son.
If I weren't trusting Jesus in this
crazy world I'd definitely not be ok!

  7. Oh the dreaded gas prices! We fluctuate between $3.65 and $3.54. I go to the cheaper station of course. We live in town so we really don't burn that much gas as we rarely go out of town. If we go to my son's house I will put in a couple of extra gallons but they come to town here more than we go out there so it's not too bad.
I love the recipe card idea, would never have thought of it myself, but then the older I get the less I know too!!
    Love Di ♥

  8. I have a couple years worth of Country Living magazines that I would love to give someone who is interested! I don't think they ever go out of date and I love to revisit them, but I've run out of storage space. Any takers?

I DO like the recipe card idea! just tie a bow around the bottle which of course we can get at a thrift store as well as the fork, and deliver the recipe with a casserole or dessert to make a perfect gift!

The gas prices are a real issue at our house as well. With hubby having to fill up every 3rd day just to get to and from work, it is really hard to budget for. Every day I'm able to let my car sit in the garage I am thankful.

"Our" Borders is still open...but Blockbuster is now boarded up. We've pretty much switched to using RedBox anyway.

Trying to catch up with my blog reading...wow what happened to March??

  9. Jacquelyn, that was my thought, too--sprucing up the bottle for the season or occasion and sending it with the pie/casserole/whatever...

  10. Well, the bookstore came to my front door today; your book has arrived. Just in time. My last read nearly wore me out! We're heading to the mountains for a much needed vacation next week. I look forward to chewing on the Proverbs with your thoughts alongside.
