A Sad Day

A sign composed and posted behind the Seattle Best Cafe counter....
"The Seattle Best Cafe...will be closing March 23.
Thank you for your love and support
over the years..."
Sitting here at Cork and Bean, we can't help feeling sad as we remember that our FAVORITE coffee place at home is closing.  Today is the last day for the Seattle Best Cafe at Borders.  (Our local Borders bookstore will be closing soon.)  We especially will be missing our favorite baristas and wish them well in their job searches.

On the docket today...a few thrift stores & hiking to a waterfall with my brother and sister-in-law. We're enjoying beautiful weather, amazing scenery, and quiet evenings of conversation and reading.

  1. You and Gary will miss hanging out at Borders. He looks so comfy, relaxing and reading in the chair. There is a Borders store in Greenwood and I wonder if it will stay open. Most of the Barnes and Nobles here are scheduled to close. I would imagine that will include two huge stores in Avon and Plainfield. My daughter regularly visits the Avon store. Sign of the times, I suppose...

  2. We've had a few 'favorites' in our little town close up shop too, and it's like little pieces of your life are gone. And then too, thinking of the workers losing their jobs, and the uncertainty that they are facing. It's sad.

'Hope you have fun "thrifting"! 'Wish you lived near me, I'd have you come thrifting through my things! I've been putting lots of my treasures out in front of the house hoping someone takes a liking to them and hoping they find good homes.
    Love and Prayers,

  3. My husband loves to go to Borders, get a cup of coffee and chill. There is a threat of our Borders closing too....so sad for everyone.
It's become his third home since he retired, more so in the winter then the summer, if it closes, he'll have to find a new place for coffee and people watching...one with books!

  4. "our" Borders so far seems to be staying open, though another one nearby is closing too. The Blockbuster near us just boarded up. I hate that we are known as the "rust belt" around here! Love that photo of Gary! So glad you are enjoying a wonderful vacation!

  5. Oh that must be hard losing your favorite coffee shop. I know that Jake and I would be lost without our favorite restaurant!
I hope you found some good finds thrifting today.
Glad that you're having a good time Rebecca.
    Love Di ♥
