Miscellany from the Palazzo

While on vacation, I've been enjoying this book.  I've jotted down several lines from it in my journal, so it's taking me longer to finish than it "should".  I hope to finish it before arriving home today.  (It's laying on a scarf I found at a thrift store on Thursday...)  Here are a few of the shorter lines that stood out to me:
  • It's wonderful, Chou; nothing matches, so everything does.
  • The less there is, the more important all of it becomes.
  • I made it better without changing the things that were best about it.
  • People need to be together as much as they need to eat.
  • I'd set out to be delighted.  For if I, myself, were not delighted, what delight would I have to give?
I just may have to expand a bit on that last one!
It became my vacation "mantra" and served me well.
Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4)

    1. MORNING REBECCA,
AM SO GLAD TO SEE YOU ARE HAVING SUCH A DELIGHTFUL YET RESTFUL VACATION. FOR ME, SEEING GOD'S HANDIWORK IS THE BEST VACATION THERE COULD EVER BE. WE LOVE THE MOUNTAINS AND THE BLUERIDGE PARKWAY AREA, JUST INCREDIBLE BEAUTY!! I KNOW IT IS SURELY A GREAT PLEASURE TO THE EYES AND THE SPIRIT. I HAD TO GO BACK AND CATCH UP FROM AFTER ST. PATRICK'S DAY, CAUSE I HADN'T BEEN VISITING MUCH THIS WEEK.
SORRY ABOUT YOUR FAV COFFEEHOUSE, THAT IS SAD BUT SO GLAD YOU GOT TO VISIT ONE LAST TIME BEFORE IT CLOSED.
YOU SURE SAW A LOT OF PRETTY WATERFALLS, AND YOU ENJOYED YOUR TIME WITH YOUR BROTHER AND SIL.
SOME OF THOSE COMMENTS WERE VERY GOOD, I ESPECIALLY LIKED THE LAST ONE TOO, CAUSE IT IS SO TRUE, WE CAN NOT GIVE TO OTHERS WHAT WE DO NOT HAVE OURSELVES. AND PSALM 37:4 IS ALSO ONE OF MY FAV VERSES SINCE I WAS A YOUNG BELIEVER, IN FACT, I USED TO HAVE A PRETTY PLAQUE WITH THAT VERSE ON IT.....IT IS INDEED A GREAT VERSE.
WELL, HOPE YOU GET YOUR BOOK FINISHED BEFORE YOU GET HOME. WE TOO, LOVE TO READ WHILE WE ARE ON VACATION, AHHH...PEACEFUL, LOVELY, PLEASURABLE,
SCENIC, WORSHIPFUL, RESTFUL MOMENTS....ALL COMPONENTS OF A GREAT VACATION. HOPE YOU HAVE A SAFE AND WONDERFUL TIME ON YOUR JOURNEY HOME SWEET FRIEND,
BLESSINGS AND THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRAYERS
      THE ARE SO APPRECIATED.

    2. Love the lines from the book. I have just now jotted down the title so I can seek out a copy for myself. The colors in the scarf are so spring-like. It's always fun to check out thrift/consignment shops when traveling.

    3. Donna, I hope you like the book. I really enjoy this genre - similar to the Peter Mayle books about Provence, etc.
