Solemn Words for Solemn Times

The events in the Mid East have been SO heavy on my mind the past few days. I woke this morning curious about whether or not the riots had occurred in Iran as predicted. At almost the same time, words of a Psalm came to my mind. I found them in the second Psalm.

Solemn words for a solemn time.
Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against his anointed saying, "Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us." He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and will terrify them in his fury, saying, "As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill."
I will tell of the decree.  The Lord said to me, "You are my Son, today I have begotten you.  Ask of me and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth our possession.  You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel."
Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth.  Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling.  Kiss the Son lest he be angry and you perish in the way; for his wrath is quickly kindled.  Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

I take great comfort in that last sentence!
I take refuge in HIM today.

On a LESS solemn note, I'm celebrating!  I learned this morning that I had won a choice of two prizes  over at Lady Farmer's Parables.  She opened her store to me, and I selected a clothespin bag.  Ever since we installed our clothesline last summer I've been wishing for a "proper" clothespin bag.  I'm VERY excited! I just love the world of blogging and the generous friends I've met and will continue to meet.  I AM blessed.

If the first part of this post was too heavy for you, you might want to
dilute the solemnity by going to my other blog to see the "over the top" arrangements from our bedroom and upstairs bathroom...

  1. I feel slightly guilty about this, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to watch the news. I'm vaguely aware of what's going on because I see headlines on the computer and occasionally read an article. With the kids here so much, I don't put the TV on during the day and I'm not in the mood to watch depressing news during the precious few moments I have with hubby in the evening. I know God is in total control even while evil rages and I do take my refuge in Him! He is my hiding place!

I LOVE the clothesline bag! I have been longing for the first opportunity to get outside and feel the sun on my face and hang up laundry too! Congratulations on your WIN, what a great choice! Doesn't take much to get us excited, does it? LOL!

  2. Congratulations on the quiz. It was hard--or at least some of them and your rhyme was very good for Romeo and Juliet. I copied the quiz to use sometime and added your rhyme to the list. Great job!

  3. Rebecca:

The stained glass window on arise 2 write was in a church near the coast of NC. My husband and I visited this area with friends who have family there before Christmas. The window was so beautiful I had to get a picture of it. I am glad you enjoyed it.

    Hugs,

  9. "Kiss the Son, lest he be angry." May I ever be submissive to the King of Kings! Isn't it awesome that we can take refuge in God? Loved this reminder and blessing.

  11. Hi Rebecca,
Thanks for coming by today and glad you liked my red checkered table. I have to say the red is starting to get to me and I would like to go green and white till spring but don't think I have enough green to do it!! lol So will just have to wait till Spring....some years I have decorated for spring early then regretted it because it got real cold again, and the house seems so much cozier and warm when it has the darker colors.
Yea, I hear you about the middle east situation,
but I figure we are probably that much closer to seeing the Lord come. He is in total control
and He truly is our refuge and strength, so believe with everything in me He will take good care of us!!

    Have a great evening,
    Blessings, Nellie
