Pottery Imperfections

I have several really "nice" pieces of pottery--bowls, pitchers, vases, mugs, etc.
Still my eye is drawn to imperfect and strange bits of pottery such as these.  I"m sure some of them were art projects of junior high students, but that doesn't diminish my fascination with them.  I discovered the heart-shaped one at a thrift store this week.  It sent me digging for the other two pieces AND a place to display all of them.

They remind me of the unique shapes and designs of the people God has placed around me.  So different.  Each beautiful in his or her own way.  Finding a place of appreciation for them in my heart and attention is the least I can do.

Isaiah 64:8
But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter;
we are all the work of your hand.

  1. Your pieces were very nice Rebecca. It's really neat as Katie is taking ceramics right now and has brought home some interesting things as well. I still have several of Ginny's pieces that she made in the same class 19 years ago!

    I liked the heart a lot but found the face really unusual! Love Di ♥

  3. Hi Rebecca...
    I love looking at and thinking about pottery... It's no surprise God uses pottery and clay to create stories and analogies to help us understand Him.
    Wishing you a wonderful week ahead ~ Maria
