A Temporary Normal

The photo quality is NO indication of the fun we're having!  I gave the boys an old cell phone that still has a working camera.  They have figured out how to take pictures, record videos, do interviews, and just MAY have careers in broadcasting!  All but the first picture are THEIRS!   They set up this last picture with a 10 second delay to capture the three of us at Mika's Coffee Shop back in their hometown!  The little guy in yellow in the third picture is our newest grandson.  We met my daughter and three of her four children on the way back to Indiana.

I'll be back to "normal" Friday afternoon after returning the boys to their IL grandparents to stay until their parents return from Ethiopia where they have a court appearance related to adopting a young daughter.  They hope to bring her to the U.S.A. around Christmas-time.

  2. Thank you, Sandy. I'm not sure I could have done it (adopted), but when this latest one is "ours" there will be 3 adopted ones in our extended family--each one precious!

  5. What an exciting time for your family! The kids are all darling...I know you are having so much fun that I kinda wish I could tag along too! What a great idea to use the old cell phone camera...Have you heard from your daughter since they arrived in Ethiopia?

  6. Jacquelyn, Yes! We've "skyped" several times! It is a remarkable technology!

  7. Rebecca: Looks like so much fun! I miss my granddaughters and no skype--no high speed. I remember making my attempts at a "broadcasting career" back in the 70's when a friend and I got a tape recorder--oooh! such technology! We recorded our own radio shows! Funny, another blog I read this morning had something on it that caused me to comment remembering other projects and fun from my childhood! I guess today is "retro" day for me! Blessings and congratulations on a new grandchild!

  8. What an adventure--for all of you. So, were you somewhere near me? If you come this way again, give me a call. I will drive to meet you for a cup of coffee or a quick chat. I leave on Friday for NC to babysit for a few days. I am excited. What a privilege. What a joy! I can imagine the fun that you are having--and also how tired you will feel for a day or two.
