Outdoor Worship & Carry-In Meal

Our annual Outdoor Worship Service took place this morning without the storms that were predicted earlier in the week.
Most sat UNDER the tents.  A few chose to sit in the sun.
There were games and water balloons to throw...
...and of course, food!
I took Cream Cheese Scalloped Potatoes in my crock pot (recipe here) and Oriental Cole Slaw (recipe under Recipe Tab at the top).  I came home with two empty dishes and many compliments as well!

  1. Yummy looking potatoes...I can see how you went home with empty dishes. Next Sunday our Church will have their service in the park. A great way to worship...in the fresh air.

  2. Sitting in the sun? My, my. Glad it's cooler there than here! :)

Your photos are so sweet, and I'll be looking up your recipes. So much fun when you bring back home empty containers, isn't it?

  3. My dad would have LOVED those cream cheese scalloped potatoes. Oh I love outdoor services. Here in Oregon, there's a few churches in my area that have services outdoors all summer long because of the weather.. They have tents set up...and very often will have some sort of grilling going on afterwards to people can eat and be happy!!! Oh it's wonderful!!! I haven't been to an outdoor service in awhile. It's nice to be together with fellow believers...worshiping, studying the Bible and eating good food. Your photos are great. I think my favorite was the one of the young man and woman. The young woman had a huge thick Bible on her lap...and it looked worn and well-used :) :) Love that!!! Have a great week. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

I like the idea of outdoor worship! I noticed that your congregation has quite a few young adults and children! That's a good thing!

  8. What a lovely way to worship! Where I grew up we used to have an occasional mass outside and I always loved it...it just feels so appropriate to worship God in his creation!
    Have a wonderful week!

  9. Thanks for coming by for a visit and entering my give away. I'd be under the tent for worship. We've had ours in the park with most sitting under roof where the picnic tables usually are. I'd love to have some of those potatoes right now. ♥♫

  10. Glenda, We ARE blessed with many young families & lots of children!

Marilyn, Thank YOU for returning my visit! Yes, I was under the tent, too. Later we set up tables under the tent for the picnic...

Colleen, Of course it's appropriate to worship God ANYwhere, but it's especially "easy" outdoors, as you said.
