The Generosity Chain

Once again, we are the recipients of garden bounty.  (The photo only shows a very small portion of what we actually received!)  Thanks to the generosity of Lynn and Donna, we are eating and enjoying many fresh vegetables at the expense of their foresight and labor.  They have truly taken these verses to heart:

" do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.  In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life." (I Timothy 6:18-19)

I want to keep the "generosity chain" going and have an idea or two to put into action today!
Have YOU been a "recipient" lately?  Are you keeping the "chain" going?

  1. Rebecca,
I feel as though the bounty goes far beyond veggies, lately. I have received a few wonderful tomatoes, but the most precious bounty lately has been the love and support of friends like you. Your prayers and encouragement has touched my soul.
    Hugs, andrea

  2. Oh, Andrea! Sometimes I feel so frustrated 'cause I can't think of anything else ("practical") to do! How good is God to bring just what we need at just the right time! May He continue to do that for YOU in abundance. Hugs Back :)

  3. Yes, Rebecca, Donna inspires me as well with her generosity. She has always had a giving heart. I will try to keep the chain going. And Donna, if you are reading this note, those were the best tomatoes that we have tasted in a long time. We have used all of our garden gifts except for one green pepper. I will use it tomorrow morning in an omelet. Thank you.

  4. Don't you blog because that is a
practical way to spread love and
    encouragement to others, Rebecca?
It's the only reason I take the
time to blog. I like to think
    we are doing something very
    profitable and practical for
    His Kingdom through this thing
    called blogging.
I have been blessed many times
by coming here to visit you. :0)

  5. Brenda - I think the generosity gene must run deep in the Gisel soil! (I chatted briefly with Donna re. her reunion, but time ran out and I didn't ask about her time with you!)

  6. Sandy, Yes, blogging has "enlarged my territory" greatly. It IS my "ministry" as well as a avenue of developing and honing the gifts and creative urges that storm inside of me. I'd like to think it is the fire/passion of God's Holy Spirit stirring me up, igniting the flame, and using anything/everything He has graced me with to bring Him glory....highlighting His goodness and grace so that others can see it more clearly.

  7. Rebecca it does my heart good to read how wonderful people are sharing their bounties. I too have been blessed with many tomatoes, beans, beets and my favorite squash...have a great day my friend, I know you are grateful for your blessings.....:-) Hugs

  8. Yes I have...we were given some meat...and I have continued the chain with giving my strawberry jelly and baked bread...isn't it fun???!!!
As my fourteen year old said, after going on a mission trip..."it really is better to give than receive"

  9. Recently when I was not feeling well, a dear friend showed up at my door with a pan of delicious, homemade rolls. Then she said, "You've been on mind a lot the last few days and I've prayed for you." It meant the world to me! I do try to pass on the bounty - and find it so rewarding, but I want to be more sensitive to God's direction in this area.

  10. Oh, this is great...what a blessing to get all those literal fruits of the labor of their hands. What a gift!!!

I've been the recipient of the "generosity chain" multiple times lately...I won a giveaway and three of my blogger friends of their own accord, sent me some lovely homemade things..a beautiful altered at tag, homemade bar soap and crochted dish towels. It really encouraged me a lot because my dad and I have had a tough time with unemployment...and most of the time we're in good spirits, but at this particular moment, we were feeling a little down and this just came at the right moment!!! I sent one of my friends a huge gift of dishcloths plus a surprise...and now I've actually been thinking about how I can do this for other people!!! I love to knit and I love practical things that are also anyway...I was really happy to read this post here...and I'm going to be praying about it and see what God can do!!! Have a great day. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
