Looking for a Few, Good Blogs

I guess this falls in the "life" category of this "Life and Godliness" blog.  As I placed these three pictures in my thrifty style blog,  I remembered the problem I was having finding decorating blogs that reflected my "taste" in style.  I WISH I were a white, shabby chic type person.  Believe me, I have tried!  I just can't get the look together.  When I thumb through magazines or decorating books, it is the rooms with darker woods and what some may call "clutter" that attract my attention.  I am definitely eclectic in my tastes!

Now, I didn't take time to arrange the settings of My Three Mirrors to suit the camera.  This is just how it was this morning, but I think you can see from them a bit of my preferences.  There are PLENTY of all-white schemes and blogs.  They just wouldn't work for me in real life.  All this to say, have you come across any decorating blogs that are more in line with my style?  I'd love to find three or four for reference and inspiration.

Or am I one-of-a-kind?  Go ahead.  You can be honest.

  1. I don't know of any blogs, but like you my taste goes toward dark wood, dark brown fabric, etc. I will be popping back over to see the comments on this.

  2. I totally agree....I don't go for all the white on white, shabby stuff either. I'm very eclectic, too...I think I'm a huge mixture of this and that..what I call mish-mash!! But, no...I haven't seen anything along the lines of what we seem to go for....I think a lot of people are copying what's "in style" for the moment instead of having a mind of their own!!! Hang in there...we'll be popular some day!! HA! HA!

  4. Oh, Rebecca!!! I'm TOTALLY with you!!! My decorating style is what is termed British Colonial...Dark woods...and art on every available wall...and treasure from all of the world that my husband has brought home for me from his travels...and a few pieces from my own...which gives my home a bit of a bohemian/eclectic look, I suspect. I can't seem to find decorating blogs that reflect that...I guess I need to look for some British decorating blogs...as most of the decorating blogs that originate in the states are for younger people...and seem to reflect the shabby chic or Pottery Barn look... I love, love, love the mirrors you've posted here...Simply fab! You have fantastic taste as far as I'm concerned! Love you! Janine XO

  7. I don't follow any decorating blogs simply because mt style is so unique. Probably not what others would like at all. I usually find one piece that I like and go with it! Most often times finding them at thrift stores. I love your mirrors Rebecca and what I've seen of your home, I love. Love Di ♥

  8. It is hard to see decorating blogs with ideas that actually suit my style. I also, like your style of decorating...I just enjoy a "clutter" look. Not a disorganized one, but one that says, we live here and enjoy everything around us :)

Thank you for stopping by the cottage...as always, you inspire and encourage.

May Our Lord bless you & Keep you,

    Maria
