What Remains?

Except for photographs, these painted rocks are all that remain as tangible evidence of the visit of two of our grandchildren.  The memories of their imaginative and creative play will bring me pleasure long into the future.
Things they said, the ways they dressed up, their clever use of what was available in the toy box, their giggles, whispered secrets, and endless energy amaze me!  (But then, I'm their grandmother...)

I wonder what will remain as tangible evidence of my days on earth?  What that I have done will bring my Heavenly Father pleasure?  I know the partial answers to these questions.  They are in The Book!

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in an steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."  Matthew 6:19-21

"So now faith, hope, and love abide; these three; but the greatest of these is love."  I Corinthians 13:13

  3. I absolutely love that verse from Matthew, it always made me feel better when things weren't going so well. And I love your rocks! It reminds me of the little box of raisins that Sarah had given me when she was very little. She had me keep them in my purse so that I would never go hungry! How sweet. So glad that you had the that precious time with those beautiful grandchildren!

  4. I agree completely. But we do lay up
treasures on earth and get way too
involved in this realm, knowing the
spirit realm is what is true and
eternal.Father, give us eyes to see
what You see and discernment to
know what is really important and
    worthy of our time.

  5. The rocks are sweet memories to have along with the memories stored in your heart of the giggles and whispered secrets and probably a hug or two. I do hope I have many teasures stored up to please my Heavenly Father and that I can have many more. Rebecca, You may already know this, that you can put a clear varnish on the rocks or even use clear finger nail polish so you can put them in your lovely garden to enjoy for years.

  8. Beautiful gifts from your grandchildren to treasure along with beautiful memories!
And a beautiful reminder to me that I have way too many treasures stored up in the here and now, and not nearly enough of what matters in the way of treasures for my soul.

I remember reading in a few books about near death experiences and the most important questions asked of each soul was "Who have you helped?" "What have you learned?" "Who have you loved?"

    Amen!
Blessings to you on this Holy Thursday!
    Love to you,
    Eileen
