Politcal Correctness during "Holy Week"

Last night while picking up a few groceries, I noticed that the gum was on sale.  I decided to pick up a pack for my husband.  This morning I removed the clear paper that it was packaged in and opened the flap.  Here's what I saw...
I totally saw the humor in it!  But I quickly thought to myself, "This is just about how silly some political correctness is today".

We're about to enter what has traditionally been known as Holy Week.  It still might be "politically correct" for many who wouldn't otherwise attend church to go to on Easter Sunday.  But it will be MORE politically correct to hide Easter eggs or exchange chocolate treats.

How sad!  Easter is more than something to dye for!  Where was the political correctness when the spear pierced Jesus' side? Where was the political correctness when an innocent man was condemned and crucified?  (Or was it ACTUALLYl political correctness that culminated in this supreme hate crime???)

I'm coming to understand that my faith and belief system is NOT politically correct.  "The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18).   The sooner I accept this, the quicker I will understand my role as Christ's ambassador urging friends and neighbors to be reconciled to God.

  2. Very well said, Rebecca. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Our youth pastor preached last night, and one of the points he brought out to me is as follows:
The cross isn't about where Jesus died...it's about WHY Jesus died.
Thank you for a message that needs to be spread. I loved your "Easter is more than something to dye for."
    Love,
    Jackie

  3. I'm actually getting tired of the whole 'political correctness', and especially tired that this type of tolerance only extends to some and not others. I think the area I live in is a very tolerant one, and my children have always gone to a parochial school, so I personally have never felt this intolerance, and once I started blogging and reading some of the stories that some Christians have suffered at the hands of the 'politically correct', I was stunned. I'm stunned that the same tolerance for Faith and religion is not extended to all Faiths and all religious beliefs in our country. And when I voiced this, bloggers were stunned that I had never experienced this type of bias and intolerance for my beliefs. I'm stunned that Jesus can not even be discussed by students in some public schools.
I guess the phrase 'live and let live' only applies if you are living according to certain politically acceptable standards, and it seems that God is no longer one of those certain acceptable standards. Sad.

    God Bless you, Rebecca.
And God Bless the work you do for God.
And thank you for your kind messages to me, and for all your support always. I appreciate it.
    Love and Prayers,
    Eileen

  4. I fear it will become worse....this intolerance and political correctness. Our Christian lights will shine brighter as the world darkens. Yours is already very bright! :)

  6. How funny to find that message inside the gum package!

I'm not one who concentrates much on being politically correct. As long as I'm spiritually in tune with God, that's all that matters!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and commenting. I've posted an update...come check it out when you get a chance!

    Blessings...
