A Song from "Yesterday"

I remember how, encouraged by a dedicated Sunday School teacher, we children lined up in rows of Sunday School-size chairs would sing...
Praise Him, Praise Him, all you little children!
God is love.  God is love.
Praise Him, Praise Him, all you little children!
God is love.  God is love.
Then we'd sing, "Love Him, Love Him, all you little children" followed by "Serve Him, Serve Him."  I can remember my own enthusiasm while singing these simple words to the simple tune.

This morning, the songs will be more complex.  The tunes will be slightly complicated for my simple tastes. But I want my enthusiasm to match that of my childhood.  God IS love, and He is worthy of my praise.

  1. I love singing the hymns in church Rebecca. But there are times like Lent when we sing different ones and I have difficulty following!
I can only imagine how it would be if you are not used to playing them!

  2. I remember this song and the way my children, as well as my Sunday School pupils loved to sing it...yes with gusto and at the top of their voices.

And for me today, like you, the songs are not as simple, but music is still one of the major ways God touches my heart.

    Thanks for sharing this.

  4. Oh yes, both the song and the piano and hymnal could be pictures of my past too. Music... it stil speaks to me every day, many times more than words.

    Blessings!
