Happy Birthday, Dolly!

I can't help it!  I'm excited about a recent "coincidence".  Two days ago I downloaded (or is it UPloaded?) a song from another blog.  It sat at the very bottom of my playlist until this morning when I "coincidentally" discovered that it was Dolly Parton's birthday.

The closest I've gotten to Dolly Parton was a visit to Dollywood one Christmas season.  It was delightful.  I'm not a fan in the truest sense of the word, but this song blessed my heart, and I've played it several times the past two days.  Theologically it may not be entirely correct, but it makes me long for Heaven.  And that is good.  I moved it up to the top this morning so you can hear it.  Even if you don't care for country music, take the time to listen to the end.  I hope...I am PRAYING that you are heaven-bound where "God himself will be with them...He will wipe way every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."  (Revelation 21:3-4)

"When I get where I'm going I will shed the sins and struggles I have carried all these years...."  I so LOVE that line!

  1. I learned to like (before I didn't like it at all) Country Western singing from my late beloved Mario and Dolly does a good job for sure with this.

Rebecca, I have finally ventured into blogland again with comments and it is so funny because there were NO comments at Eileen's post nor at Jerelene's, so I wrote and your comment showed up before mine both times!! Guess I wrote too much! Or you are way fast!

    blessings and hugs always,

  3. Beautiful, uplifting post!

I'm not a big fan of Country Music, but I do love the sentiments and ideals of most Country songs, and I love the heartfelt manner in which most songs are sung, and I have always loved Dolly! Her 'Hard Candy Christmas' is one of my favorites! And 'Dollywood' is on my 'to do' dream list!

    Great post!
    Beautiful song!
    Love to you,

  5. The message in this song is great; we would do well to think about Heaven more often. Those of us who have loved ones there possibly think about it more.

I've always liked Dolly. Would love to go to Dollywood sometime.

  7. The words of country music songs usually have a lot to say...
I love Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge, TN...and if anyone hasn't been, you need to go. It's not an amusement park....
I long for a place that is tear-free...heaven! We'll all have a happy time together with our Lord. See you there, my friend!
    Love,
    Jackie

  8. Well, I am a country music fan, and this song always gets a crank on the volume when it cycles through the playlist! Love it. Any song that speaks about heaven always garners my attention. This one is pretty spot-on.

    Love both Brad and Dolly!

PS: This comes to me on a night when we await word on our dear friend who sits on the edge of her "next"... tears are just flowing for me. I think God knew I needed to come here tonight
