When I Am Afraid....

"When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?"
Psalm 56:3-4

And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long,
steals on the ear the distant triumph song,
and hearts are brave again, and arms are strong.
Alleluia, Alleluia! (5th stanza, "For All the Saints"

Through circumstances, His Holy Word, and the words of this great song, God is saying to me today, "Keep your ear on the distant triumph song!  Have a brave heart.  Make your arms strong!" This quote has been in my sidebar for awhile, but I post it here today--a reminder for me and all who are experiencing fierce strife and/or long warfare...

When God places a burden upon you,
He places His arms underneath you.

Underneath ARE the everlasting arms!  I shall NOT be afraid.
Alleluia!  Alleluia!

  6. How are you doing dear friend? From your post, I could sense that burdens or trials are visiting you and your family.

But I agree with you dear one ~ what can flesh do to me? I put my trust on The Lord - The God of my salvation!

My prayers are with you and your husband - that Our Lord continue to have you close and to give peace in your day!

  8. Beautiful quote.
There's a song that is sung in my church a lot, maybe you know it "Be Not Afraid".

I love this line from that song the most:

"Be not afraid, I go before you always
Come follow Me and I will give you rest."

Be not afraid, Rebecca, He goes before you always.

    Love and Prayers,
    Eileen

  12. From very sunny Arizona where I am a very sleepy commenter ( just about the only way for me to get online during vacation here) I thank you for posting such encouraging words. Like Eileen, I just love the Be Not Afraid song for it reminds us constantly that He is there in the barren desert (where I am now!!) or fire or any dire situation.

    blessings and prayerful hugs,

    marcy

  13. "Fear" used to be my middle name. Thank God, He has not given us a spirt of fear; but of power, of love, and of sound/strong mind!

As one who has fought long in a seemingly unending battle, thank you. We are more than conquerors, and together we're fierce!

    Blessings,
    Kathleen

  14. Yes, thanks for this welcome reminder of the everlasting arms that hold us up when our burdens get heavy. In the past 3 weeks the burdens of others that I have been called to pray for were almost crushing--from a friend's parent being killed in an accident to a new born baby having to go to emergency 3 times, to another friend's grandson succumbing to suicide while in jail...and many more...if it were not for the hiding place that God provides for us in the comfort of those everlasting arms. It always helps me to remember that God is Sovereign, and there is nothing that happens without first being sifted through His fingers. While so often cannot see His hand at work, we can trust His heart that He is working out all things for His purposes and our ultimate good. May you feel His comfort today, friend.

  15. Yes, but sometimes the burden is not put on us by God but is of our own doing. It is harder then to trust that God will be with us. I am thankful that He is a rescuer and His grace is constant.
