The scent is filling the house and making me wonder why I don't do this more often! I plan to take one loaf with me when we go visit my parents later this afternoon. The other I'll wrap tightly and put out on our cool porch to keep and serve next week when some of our children and grandchildren are here.
Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst." (John 6:35)
Yummy, I can imagine how heavenly that bread smells.
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell it Rebecca. I think I like Pumpkin, zuchinni, banana, apple cranberry, or any type of sweet bread more than most overly sweet frosted cakes! Your apple bread looks delicious Rebecca!
ReplyDeleteI can smell and taste these wonderful breads as well.......your house must smell devine. Hope you find your parents well....:-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteI have to remember to look up this recipe. I have a few apples that no one is eating. It looks delicious Rebecca.

Diana, there are several recipes on internet for apple bread. I think this is actually the second one I've tried and they're both good.
ReplyDeleteBernie, I DID find my parents as good as can be expected. My mother had baked an "impossible" pie - that uses Bisquick & makes its own crust. So we ate the apple bread & impossible pie. WAY too much sugar. We also played a card game - "Sevens".
ReplyDeleteWanda, I agree - although now that you mention it I remember eating an apple cake with more of a sauce over it than frosting. Hmmmmm. Maybe I can find THAT recipe.
ReplyDeleteI was here earlier and left a comment Rebecca, telling you how good the bread looked and that I like sweet breads almost more than overly sweet heavily frosted cakes, but I guess blogger preferred to keep my comment! Makes you wonder just what happens. Hope you had a nice visit with your parents!
ReplyDeleteLuv and Smiles,
Wanda
As soon as I sent a second comment up popped the original :) The "apple cake" most likely had a brown sugar glaze on it, at least that's what I'm familiar with on the fresh apple cake recipes I've made!
ReplyDeleteOh they look delicious...and the smell, yummm...heavenly!
ReplyDeletemay you enjoy them,
maria
Hi Rebecca! I just spent time at your other blog ... Thrify Style at Sixty! Your blogs are great! One of my favorite recipes from my mother is her apple cake, which can be made into loaves... Now, after seeing this post, I must make one! I CAN smell it!
ReplyDeleteApples and walnuts are a favorite combination for me!
Oh, they look absolutely delectable!!!! I am inspired!!! I can almost smell them!! You are so terrific! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family, dear Rebecca...you touch and bless us all...may God especially bless you this holiday season!! Much love to you~Janine XO
ReplyDeleteI can imagine the wonderful aromas in your house this morning. I LOVE the smell of home-made bread and love the different kinds of bread--apple, pumpkin, banana, etc.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to visit your parents; those are precious times.
all I can say is yum - yum - yum! I have had to give up bread this past week because I have a food mold allergy, and looking at your photo makes me want to lick the screen. Your lucky I don't live close now that I know your bread will be on your porch. :-) I have been known to sleep walk.
ReplyDeleteRebecca...we have a bushel of Golden Delicious apples that we brought back from North Carolina. I think that apple bread would be a delicious way to use them.
ReplyDeleteI love the song that is playing "Give Thanks"....I play it often...sing it often...and am reminded to give thanks to our Lord for all He has done and continues to do for us.
Many smiles,
Jackie
