The cushion on the rocking chair was purchased on Saturday at our favorite thrift store for $.25.
I couldn't resist bringing in the "Christmas tree" - a gift we received over 10 years ago. Its slim proportion has made it a versatile addition to our holiday decorating. I wrapped it with new lights but will wait to put bulbs on it until after Thanksgiving (maybe).
We returned home with fresh enthusiasm and new ideas for life and ministry. My husband tidied his workbench and finished several small projects. He also helped me rearrange our living room. He painted the base of the coffee table (which had been sitting in our yard). We topped it with a piece of glass purchased at a garage sale Saturday.
This is an example of the "small" projects he finished....a small, vintage cedar box with a quaint cottage scene on top (thrifted or garage sale, I can't remember for certain).
Oh Rebecca, I so love you! I wish we could go thrifting together, there are about a dozen thrift stores in our town. I really should post my last to finds, they were a great deal!

Your home looks very cosy and inviting...I think I need a Christmas tree such as yours as my home is very small with little space. It's always nice to come home after a time away....blessings....
ReplyDeleteYou get great deals, Rebecca...and put your treasures together beautifully.

Hello Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteHow great to be back visiting again, it seems you have been busy too. I thought as we got older our lives would slow down, my dh and I find ourselves asking each other"where does time go?"
I was at Sears the other day and found a cushion on sale for $5.00, and really thought I had gotten a bargain until I saw your cushion for .25. Great job!
Your husband seems like my husband always so willing to help me. I am so thankful to the Lord for him.
The cedar chest that your husband made is beautiful too. I enjoyed my visit tonight. I am so far behind in my visiting, please forgive me for being so slow about visiting.
Blessings,
Sue
Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh Rebecca, I wish I lived handier you so that I could go shopping with you, I love what you find at thrift shops....I can't even find a thrift shop although I know there must be some in the city. Your purchases are lovely and with your husband being such a handy man and you sew so beautifully, you both make everything old look new again....I love your post and enjoy each and every visit....:-)Hugs
ReplyDeleteI guess you are going to have to teach me the art of thrifting. For one thing, I have a problem--even though it's a good one--almost none of my winter clothes fit since I've lost a little weight.
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed and love what you do with your home. Donna
You have the best thrift shops...all we have is Goodwill, but I keep on looking and sometimes find 'treasures'. Love everything you found. Wouldn't it be awesome if all of us could got thrifting together like Diana and Bernie mentioned?? The thrift stores would be delighted and so would we.
ReplyDeleteRebecca, I know that you don't usually do the tag thing, but please feel free to do the meme I posted if the mood hits you as it could be fun.
blessings and hugs,
marcy
p.s. Having a terrible time trying to get this comment to 'take'...it keeps saying error!
MARCY, You're so cute :) and so thoughtful, too. I don't feel a bit left out since I know that YOU know.....I guess keeping all my blogs afloat is about all I can handle. I sure do like the read the results of others, though! It WAS/IS an interesting meme! Probably even more interesting than what I bought at the thrift store lately.
ReplyDeleteI've always felt that home was so welcoming and lovelier then before I left when I return home from a vacation! It's good to get away and wonderful to come home.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you found some great thrift shopping places. That's my kind of shopping.
Enjoy your beautiful home and your newest finds!
