Pardon my Renaissance

Renaissance is a word that has been playing its tune in my mind for several days now.  I found the following description in a google thesaurus:

The act of reviving or condition of being revived:  reactivation, rebirth, renascence, renewal, resurgence, resurrection, resuscitation, revitalization, revival, revivification...A revival of intellectual or artistic achievement and vigor.

I think I'm in the middle of a renaissance!  And for me, it is not so much the "act of reviving" as the "condition of being revived".  This morning as I walked, the following verse came to my mind.  As soon as I got home, I looked up the reference - Job 42:12:  "The Lord blessed the latter part of Job's life more than the first."

I have a WHOLE lot to experience yet!  I don't want to miss the Lord's blessing in the latter part of my life.

  1. Hi Rebecca,
I do like this reasoning. I feel as though the second half of my life has been much more interesting than the first. I think that I am much more open to learning things and enjoying things that in the past I have taken for granted. And have felt much more peace inside spiritually! Love Di

P.S. The verse from Job was very fitting!

  2. Great definately have a gift for writing. This post reflects how i feel..that the Lord is reviving Frank and i, and that for all we have lost, we have gained more, and that the Lord will bless us in our latter days with more than we had.We are already recieving some of it. :-)

  3. I think that is a great attitude to have sweetie.

  4. Oh I love this post....I, being in the autumn of my life am so much happier and even more contented. I think with age comes wisdom and I thank God every day not only for my strong faith in him but for his faith in me....This is such a wonderful time of our life....Hugs

  5. Hi Rebecca~ I love that verse...and I see the truth in it, too. I've never had the time to pursue different interests as well as give back so much to God as Ive begun to these past couple of years. I think you've started a lovely echo of gratitude with this post. Your Renaissance maiden is beautiful. I led a Mary Magdalene prayer service this summer, and I used the da Vinci portrait from the Renaissance (of course the Greek Orthodox one was more genuine for the times!) Blessings, Margaret

  6. Rebecca, this is such a confirmaiton of what has been on my heart. I even told my brother in an email that this time of my life is such a time of loving for me. I feel so free and content in the Lord.
I truly believe that like Job, the Lord has blessed the later part of my life more then the first, with things that really matter. Those things are not monetary, but of the soul, pressed down, shaken together and running over!

  7. Oh have hit the nail on the head. Even though I have not reached 50 yet...I am going through a renaissance - one that focuses completely on the Lord.

Thank you dear friend for making us part of it ;)

ps: yes, I still want the suitcases. I will be using them to put my notions in them. Right now, I have them in plastic containers but they look so ugly. I need beauty around me dear friend :)

So send me an email with your address and so forth so I can send you the money.

    lady m

  8. I'm counting on the latter walking better than the beginning. With more wisdom under my belt, how could it not?

    Great thoughts.

  10. What happened to my comment from yesterday? Is blogger doing strange things again?

Anyway, this is such a lovely thought that we are always renewing ourselves with love for God and others. Being in a state of Renaissance is such a good thing if we use it for goodness.

    blessings and hugs,

  11. Rebecca, thanks for that word from THE WORD! I really need to remember fact I'm going to meditate on that now while I go off to sleepland. He knows just what we need, and when we need it!
