Two Men and a Golf Course (or Different Strokes for Different Folks)

What a pleasant day! After dropping off my husband to play 18 holes of golf with my father (age 82), I drove a few additional miles to meet my mother. After catching up with happenings in their village, she and I visited two thrift stores--one in her town and another in Bryan, OH. Then we met the men at Pizza Hut for lunch. Before going our separate ways, we introduced them to one of our favorite yards and its extensive flower gardens. The fine weather made the day enjoyable. The men were happy with their scores...and so were the women! Among other things, I bought a white soup tureen and platter ($2), a blue jean jacket ($.75), an interesting tin bowl made in South Africa ($.50), and a Christmas-themed child's Golden Book ($.40) to add to the Christmas collection in our cabin.

  1. Lovely family time! Very sweet!

And I like all your treasures here very much, but if I had to choose just one, I think I'd have to choose the tin bowl, I love the colors and it's so unique.

Glad you had such a nice day with your Mom and Dad. You're Blessed to still have them and to enjoy special time spent with them, and I know you cherish them.
    All the best,

  3. What a nice day for all of you. I so appreciate your dad and mom. He had a really wonderful meditation at my aunt's funeral last week. You are blessed with wonderful parents.

  4. I AM blessed. And I am thankful. God has been SO gracious and kind to me in such obvious ways and in ways as well as in ways I don't always understand, realize, or appreciate. He is good--all the time! (This is say by faith - not always by "feeling".)

  5. I love to go thrifting...and now my sons love it also. Its just a hoot for me to hear about all their finds. My son in SC actually called me from a thrift store the other day to tell me about the classic clothing he found. He scouts the fine clothing websites, then goes to the thrift store and buys his stuff there...on his pastor's budget :) My sons favorite things to thrift for are books and clothes...while I like to shop for household items or clothes & toys for the grandkids. We would make great shopping buddies, Rebecca! I love your tureen, and especially love the price!
