IT'S NOT EASY BEING GREEN!

It wasn't easy finding them in stock.
The one we DID find was missing the installation kit....
So we ordered on-line.
The rain barrels arrived by Fed Ex on Friday.
Saturday afternoon found my hard-working husband
leveling ground,
moving the gutter system, and installing the first of two barrels.
By evening, it was all set up and ready for rain! We'd prefer the rain would hold off to accommodate our plans for a cookout Sunday evening with our Home Connection
(small group from church)!
We plan to water our plants, clean up after outside work,
and maybe wash the car a time or two
with the rain water that used to flood a low spot in our lawn.

As Lady M commented a couple of days ago...
"As Christians, we should be the best environmentalists because we serve the Creator of all things."

  1. Rebecca, what a beautiful post and such a great idea for the use of rain water. My dad had a rain barrel when I was little and my mum use to wash all of our hair with it as well my dad watered his garden and flowers. It's been years since I even remembered that.
Have a great weekend and I too hope the rain holds off until after your Home Connection get together....:-) Hugs

  2. We just got our two compost bins up and going this year (although I did compost grass clippings way back in a corner every year) and MIchael was already talking about rain barrels, so I pray that we can get some soon!

Thank you for being "green" and another "appreciator" of God's good earth!

    blessings,

  3. Dearest Rebecca,

My darling husband installed three rain barrels last year and boy have they made a difference!

Last year, we hardly had to use town water to irrigate our new flower beds. We were able to water them during the hottest days of summer.

You are going to totally enjoy having them.

    blessings dear friend...

  4. Yay! I love to see more and more people being stewards of all God provides for us... Lady M's comment is so true!

Rain barrels are on our project list. I've just purchased a worm compost bin. It's set up and ready to go, as soon as I buy some red wigglers to "eat our garbage"!

    Love the pictures!

  5. I would love to use rain barrels, but we live in a condo. I have always been a green person, even before it was popular. Now, living where we do, it is very hard to conserve. Great pics.
