"No power here at work.
Waiting to hear from Indiana Michigan Power on what is causing the problem.
Apparently widespread outage."
This bit of tweet was twittered a few days ago by a friend of ours. (Or would it be "twitter was tweeted"?) I never DID hear what was causing that particular outage...
Today we awakened to yet another day of rain. The local news tells us there are trees and power lines down this morning due to wind and rains.
Lord, as of old, at Pentecost,
Thou didst Thy power display,
With cleansing, purifying flame,
Descend on us today.
For mighty works for Thee, prepare
And strengthen every heart;
Come, take possession of Thine own,
And never more depart.
All self consume, all sin destroy!
With earnest zeal endue
Each waiting heart to work for Thee;
O Lord, our faith renew!
Speak, Lord! before Thy throne we wait,
Thy promise we believe,
And will not let Thee go until
The blessing we receive.
Thou didst Thy power display,
With cleansing, purifying flame,
Descend on us today.
For mighty works for Thee, prepare
And strengthen every heart;
Come, take possession of Thine own,
And never more depart.
All self consume, all sin destroy!
With earnest zeal endue
Each waiting heart to work for Thee;
O Lord, our faith renew!
Speak, Lord! before Thy throne we wait,
Thy promise we believe,
And will not let Thee go until
The blessing we receive.
Refrain
Lord, send the old-time power, the Pentecostal power!
Thy floodgates of blessing, on us throw open wide!
Lord, send the old-time power, the Pentecostal power!
That sinners be converted and Thy Name glorified!
...and let it begin in ME.
Lord, send the old-time power, the Pentecostal power!
Thy floodgates of blessing, on us throw open wide!
Lord, send the old-time power, the Pentecostal power!
That sinners be converted and Thy Name glorified!
...and let it begin in ME.
I didn't remember the verses, but I DO remember the refrain! And I'm ready for a floodgate of blessing too! All to HIS glory!
ReplyDeleteOur sermon yesterday was very similar to this and then my morning study was too. I think I might be hearing what I need to hear.
ReplyDeleteThat is always talked about in our church. And there is a joke about the "A & P" Catholics, (they only come when they are getting something for free ~ ashes on Ash Wednesday, and palms on Palm Sunday). Seriously, there is a vast difference in church attendance from when I was little to what I see now. There is definitely a widespread outage.
ReplyDeleteYou asked about Eoghan's name, it's pronounced like "Owen" but with a Gaelic spelling.
And if you could please keep Eoghan in your prayers, he is going for testing this morning as he's been throwing up blood.
Thanks so much.
Love and Prayers,
Eileen
Oh Dear I just read Eileen's comment. We must all send out our prayers for Eoghan.
ReplyDeleteYou always amaze me Rebecca, turning the day into a post! Our church is somewhat the same. One week there are plenty of people . The next hardly any. I was guilty yesterday, these pills are making me feel horrible. Only one left!
It seems that you are having the rain we had yesterday. We are in the sun for now but I guess it's circling around and it will be back this afternoon. JOY! Love Di ♥
Send a revival, Lord...and let it begin in my own heart!!!! Very good post, Ms. Rebecca!!!
ReplyDeleteSo very, very true!!! i believe that the Lord is separating the "sheep and the goats" in preparation for end times.
ReplyDeleteGood word, Rebecca. I agree about the state
ReplyDeleteof the church. There isn't anything wrong in
this world that a big dose of Pentecostal
Power wouldn't improve! Love this song and
I am here to say that believing in the gifts
of the Spirit and His Power is the only way
to survive in this life.
Blessings~
How do I feel this one, sister?! Amen. We daily pray for revival in our church and that God would bring new people into the doors of our church. I feel like there's a cloud hanging over our congregation, a dullness/complacency that lingers in their hearts--sometimes mine as well. I think that many people have yet to make the connection between church and having a relationship with Jesus Christ. It doesn't yet matter to them.
ReplyDeleteBridging that gap, bringing understanding to the table. It's what we're trying to do, and our prayers are unwavering! Keep to it...
