I have many Amish neighbors and enjoy frequenting their stores because many things needed for the simple life are more readily available because of them--chicken feed, fabric and sewing supplies, lamp oil, bulk baking supplies, etc., etc.Lori Zehrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14487050268259026104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-163092593778837151.post-41051763388727600242010-09-22T21:32:47.887-04:002010-09-22T21:32:47.887-04:00Our nearest Amish communities are about an hour aw...Our nearest Amish communities are about an hour away. We love to go there a couple times a year to shop or eat or just get some good old-fashioned stress relief. I've read a lot of the popular Christian novels that portray Amish life. It does make me sad that they do not teach that one can have the assurance of salvation, though I know many Amish have Mennonite relatives who faithfully witness to them the truth of the Gospel.
But your point about how the Amish can challenge us to live more simply and at the same time to know that work can be it's own reward is a positive influence on any community. I wish we lived closer to them, as I do admire them in many ways.Jacquelyn Stagerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04051731884653793193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-163092593778837151.post-81143059486252680502010-09-22T20:05:12.172-04:002010-09-22T20:05:12.172-04:00I love this post and the love and respect you show...I love this post and the love and respect you show for these wonderful people.....they have a compound not to far from here and they are always selling home baked goods at our farmer's market on Friday afternoons......one thing I do know is that they are always impeccable and their food is delicious....that's two things isn't it......big hugs my friend...:-)Berniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03024565921761129108noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-163092593778837151.post-13683416878585137052010-09-22T13:18:17.838-04:002010-09-22T13:18:17.838-04:00I love these pictures. After eleven years of living in town, I still find it fascinating when a horse and buggy drive down my street. So does my dog Ruby! That is a beautiful photo by the way!
Love Di ♥Dianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11429812875586479256noreply@blogger.com
