Baby Steps

"Baby steps" some would call them...
While big projects mount up and circumstances tend to feel overwhelming to me,
my husband by example shows me the importance of taking those "baby steps".
So this morning, after he sawed out the shape of the missing blade
for this weathered whirligig,
I took out the paint box and prepared to take a "baby step".
This exercise convinces me of the importance of  "baby steps"
and encourages me to take many, many more!

  1. Baby steps, indeed! Even when the baby "falls down" that too, is a valuable lesson. It teaches balance. I've been a bit unhappy at my lack of progress on this end, but this was a wonderful reminder. Thank you Rebecca!

    1. SO true (about balance)! We're never too old to learn -- or RElearn, are we?

  2. I think that "baby steps" are crucial as schedules overwhelm or lack of energy creeps in or aging slows our productivity. We long for the productivity of earlier days, but success is to adjust and keep on going, a little bit at a time. It is something that I have been considering a lot lately...

    1. I think you're ON to something there - "success is to adjust and keep on going"! I think I'll print that on a card and put it over the kitchen sink (not that I spend a lot of time there).

  3. As my friend Brenda says, bit by bit. We do what we can, when we can.

  5. This is one of my agent, Diana's favorite sayings to encourage her clients. I think it applies to all of life!

  6. Some days I think I'm still in the crawling stage! :)

  7. I completely believe in baby steps. Everything starts and finishes with baby steps! I think we should just eliminate the word 'baby' as all steps are the same measure no matter how far they appear to take us. It is about movement!
